더불어민주당 세종시장 결선 후보로 확정된 조상호 예비후보가 7일 입장문을 내어 미래를 향한 정면 승부 의지를 담은 출사표를 던졌다. 

조 후보는 특히 이번 결선 투표를 세종이 과거에 정체된 채로 머물 것인지 아니면 미래로 도약할 것인지를 결정하는 중대한 기로라고 강조했다.

아울러 행정중심복합도시 건설 정체와 인구 감소를 초래한 현 최민호 시정을 ‘완전한 실패’라고 정의내렸다. 

또한 여당 후보가 과거의 내란 옹호 의혹에 대해 사죄하지 않았음을 비판하며 이번 선거를 통해 준엄한 심판을 내릴 필요성이 상당하다고 일갈했다.

조 후보는 국정기획위원과 경제부시장 등을 역임하며 쌓은 정치와 행정의 균형 잡힌 역량을 자신의 핵심 경쟁력으로 내세우며, 행정수도 완성의 설계도를 손에 쥐고 세종의 새로운 미래를 열겠다고 자신했다. 

나아가 깨어있는 시민들의 힘을 모아 남은 일주일간 총력전을 펼쳐 경선 승리를 반드시 쟁취하겠다는 각오도 밝혔다. 

민주당의 세종시장 최종 후보를 가리는 운명의 결선 투표는 오는 14일부터 16일까지 사흘간 진행될 예정이다.
