최민호 세종시장이 재선도전을 공식 선언했다.

최 시장은 6일 세종시청에서 시장 출마를 공식 선언하고 " 자신이 이룬 주요 성과를 바탕으로 행정수도 완성을 향한 중단없는 전진이 필요하다"며 재선 도전을 밝혔다.

그는 먼저 "지난 4년은 자신에게는 40년과 같은 시간이었다"며 "시의회 다수 의석을 차지한  민주당의 견제와 장벽속에서 오롯이 감내하고 겪어내야 만 하는 인고의 시간이었다"고 강조했다.

이어 ‘2026 세종국제정원도시박람회’가 정치 논리에 막혀 무산된 현실을 언급하며, “무엇이 시민을 위한 시정인지 끊임없이 자문했다”고 말했다.

그러면서 "행정수도 완성이라는 역사적 사명 앞에 더 이상 머뭇거릴 시간이 없다"며 “길을 아는 리더, 답을 가진 시장, 시민과 경제를 먼저 생각하는 시장이 되겠다”고 지지를 호소했다.

헌법 개헌과 관련 세종시의 행정수도 조항이 빠진 것에 대해선 “행정수도 세종 완성을 위한 대통령의 약속도, 여당의 약속도 없고, 행정수도 세종이 왜 20여년간 이렇게 방치돼 하는지” 반문했다.

국민의힘 내부 갈등에 대해서는 반성의 목소리도 냈다. 그는 "깊이 반성하고 있다"며 "반성과 혁신 의지를 실천하기 위해 세종시 전역  100km종주하며 시민의 목소를 듣겠다"고 했다.

끝으로 최 시장은 “어떤 역경과 압박 속에서도 흔들리지 않고 대한민국 행정수도 세종의 밝은 내일을 위해 맨 앞에 서겠다”며 출마 선언을 마무리했다.

한편 이날 출마선언 자리에는 국민의힘  소속 세종시의원, 이준배 시당위원장 광역의회 선거에 나설 후보자들이 함께 했다.

Finally, Mayor Choi concluded his declaration of candidacy by saying, “I will stand at the forefront for the bright future of Sejong, the administrative capital of the Republic of Korea, without wavering amidst any adversity or pressure.”

Meanwhile, Sejong City council members affiliated with the People Power Party, City Party Chairman Lee Jun-bae, and candidates running in the metropolitan council elections were present at the declaration ceremony.
