충남 부여군이 도내 지방자치단체 가운데 처음으로 인공지능(AI)을 활용한 ‘수기 고지서 세입 처리 자동화 시스템’을 도입해 7일부터 본격적으로 적용한다.  

납세자가 손으로 적은 고지서의 문자와 숫자를 인공지능이 스스로 판독해 전산 데이터로 바꾸는 이 시스템은 행정의 디지털 전환을 한 단계 앞당길 것으로 보인다.

지방세 업무의 상당 부분이 전산화했음에도 지방소득세나 주민세처럼 납세자가 직접 작성하는 일부 세목은 그동안 담당 공무원이 일일이 수작업으로 전산망에 입력해 왔다. 

인공지능 자동화 체계는 이러한 수기 입력의 번거로움을 덜어내는 동시에 세입 처리의 속도와 데이터의 정확성을 비약적으로 향상시킬 수 있다는 장점이 있다.

특히, 단순 반복 업무에서 발생할 수 있는 인적 오류를 원천적으로 차단함으로써 납세 정보 관리의 신뢰도를 높이고 민원 처리 기간을 대폭 단축하는 효과를 낼 수 있을 것으로 전망된다. 

아울러 신속한 데이터 처리는 곧바로 행정 현장의 효율성 제고로 이어져 시민들이 체감하는 세정 서비스의 질을 한층 끌어올릴 것으로 보인다.

부여군은 앞으로도 첨단 기술을 행정 전반에 적극적으로 수용해 납세자 중심의 투명하고 효율적인 세정 환경을 구축하는 데 행정력을 집중할 계획이다.
