최민호 세종특별자치시장이 5일 세종시립도서관에서 열린 ‘찾아가는 현장소통’ 행사에서 기간제 사서를 포함해 약 80여 명의 도서관 현장 근로자들과 만나 의견을 청취하고 도서관 운영 개선 방안을 논의했다.

이번 행사에 앞서 최 시장은 도서관 4층 종합자료실에서 ‘1일 사서’ 체험을 하며 시민들의 도서 대출과 반납 과정을 직접 경험했다. 또한 도서 안내와 도서 반납 정리 업무에 참여해 사서들의 실제 업무 환경을 가까이에서 살펴봤다.

이후 지하 1층 대강당에서 열린 직원 간담회에서는 노후 장비 교체, 다양한 장서 확대, 악성 민원에 대한 보호 체계 강화 등 현장의 다양한 목소리가 제기됐다. 최 시장은 이런 제안들을 무겁게 받아들여 관계 부서에 조속히 검토 후 반영할 것을 지시했다.

최민호 시장은 “도서관은 시민들이 일상적으로 찾는 공간인 만큼, 현장에서 묵묵히 도서관의 얼굴로서 역할하는 여러분이 매우 중요하다”며 “시민 모두가 편안하게 머물며 풍요로운 문화생활을 누릴 수 있도록 함께 힘써 나가자”고 강조했다.
