국가유산청 산하 국립문화유산연구원 국립가야문화유산연구소는 지난해 9월 문을 연 국립가야역사문화센터의 정체성을 상징할 캐릭터를 공모한다. 접수 기간은 2월 23일부터 4월 10일까지다.

이번 공모는 ‘가야 탐험대, 캐릭터 공모전’을 주제로 기획됐다. 가야역사문화의 연구·전시 거점으로 자리매김한 국립가야역사문화센터의 이미지를 국민과 함께 구축하겠다는 취지다. 선정 작품은 향후 센터의 홍보물과 교육 콘텐츠, 문화상품 제작에 폭넓게 활용되며, 기관과 대중을 잇는 상징 매개로 기능할 예정이다.

응모 자격은 가야문화에 관심 있는 대한민국 국민 누구나 해당된다. 출품 분야는 두 갈래다. 센터의 전시실·열린 수장고·고고학자의 방·책방 등 공간 요소를 소재로 하거나, 센터에서 전시 중인 자료 및 유물을 바탕으로 한 캐릭터 가운데 하나를 선택해 제작하면 된다. 이는 공간 서사와 유물의 역사성을 시각적으로 재해석하는 과정을 통해 가야문화의 상징성을 현대적 감각으로 확장하려는 기획 의도가 반영된 구성으로 읽힌다.
