충남 공주시지역의 한 이장협의회가 베트남 관광 중 단체로 SS관광을 했다는 의혹이 제기돼 지역 사회에 큰 파문이 일고 있다.

더욱이 이러한 SS관광 탓으로 협의회 임원(부회장, 총무, 감사)들이 지난해 12월께 사임했으나 협의회 A모 회장은 “나는 아무런 책임이 없다”며 회장직을 고수하고 있어 해당 지역의 면민들 뿐만 아니라 공주시이장단협의회에서도 반발이 거세다.

특히 관리 감독을 맡고 있는 공주시와 면 직원들은 해당사항에 대해 내용을 알고 있으면서도, 보조금 지원이 없었다는 이유로 사태 파악은 커녕 불통이 어디로 튈까 전전긍긍해 하고 있다.

공주시 관계자는 “베트남으로 해외 관광차 이장들이 여행을 다녀온 후, 해괴망측한 소문이 돌고 있는 것으로 알고 있으며, 이 같은 발단은 체육회장 선출 과정에서 문제가 된 것으로 보조금 지원은 없던 것으로 안다”고 답했다.

이 같은 소식을 접한 지역의 이장협의회 C회장은 “70년 전도 아니고 나라 망신에 공주시 개망신이다. 지역 지도층 사람들이 어떻게 저런 부도덕한 짓을 할 수 있는지 도무지 이해할 수가 없다”면서 “아무도 모를 것이라는 나태한 인식이 이번 사태를 낳았다”고 개탄했다.
