충남 논산수박연구회(대표 김종일)가 최근 불거진 원예특작 지역 맞춤형 사업과 관련한 특혜 및 리베이트 의혹에 대해 강하게 반박하며, 언론과 정치권의 왜곡 보도 중단을 강력히 요구했다.

6일 논산문화원에서 열린 기자회견에서 김종일 대표는 “2024년 논산시가 확보한 총 16억 7,000만 원의 예산 중 13억 6,000만 원이 연작 장애 방지 및 생육 촉진을 위한 정당한 절차를 거쳐 집행된 사업”이라며 “수의계약이 아닌 정상적인 계약 방식을 통해 진행된 점을 명확히 밝힌다”고 말했다.
