충청남도 논산에서 개최될 ‘2027 논산세계딸기산업엑스포’가 국제행사 자격 심사 대상에 선정되며 기대감을 모으고 있다. 이번 엑스포는 충남의 딸기 산업을 세계에 알리고, 국제 경쟁력을 강화하기 위한 중요한 발판이 될 것으로 보인다.

2023년 논산딸기축제에서 김태흠 지사가 국제행사 개최 의지를 밝힌 이후 본격적인 준비가 시작되었으며, 엑스포는 2027년 2월 26일부터 24일간 논산시민가족공원에서 열릴 예정이다. 

이번 행사는 충남 딸기 산업의 위상을 높이고, 고부가가치 산업으로의 전환을 목표로 하고 있다.

현재 한국의 연간 딸기 생산액은 1조 5211억 원에 달하며, 이는 과채류 중 1위를 기록하고 있다. 

특히, 딸기는 11년 연속 생산액이 1조 원을 넘긴 유일한 작물로, 앞으로도 지속적인 성장이 예상된다. 2032년에는 국내 딸기 생산액이 28억 3000만 달러에 이를 것으로 보이며, 세계 신선 딸기 시장도 2031년에는 3조 2000억 달러에 도달할 전망이다.

또한, ‘K-딸기’의 글로벌 시장 확대가 주목받고 있다. 싱가포르, 베트남, 홍콩 등지에서 K-딸기를 활용한 디저트 수요가 증가하고 있으며, 2023년 한국의 딸기 수출액은 전년 대비 21.2% 증가한 7110만 달러를 기록했다. 

논산은 딸기 생산량에서 전국 1위를 차지하고 있으며, 농가 소득과 농가 수 또한 최고의 성과를 보이고 있다. 이러한 배경 속에서 논산딸기축제는 26년 간 성공적으로 개최되었으며, 2023년에는 한국관광공사로부터 ‘K-컬처관광이벤트 100선’에 선정되기도 했다.
