양승조 전 충남도지사는 26일 밤 자신의 SNS를 통해 대전·충남 행정통합 특별법이 국회 논의에서 배제된 것에 강한 유감을 표하며 국민의힘 지도부와 충청권 인사들을 직격했다.

"어떻게 이 지경이 됐습니까?" 로 시작된 글에서 양 전 지사는 “광주·전남은 법안이 통과되고, 대구·경북은 협의에 이르렀지만 대전·충남만 방치됐다”며 “행정통합을 가장 먼저 제안하고 법안을 낸 곳이 대전·충남인데, 결과적으로 꼴찌가 됐다”고 비판했다.

양 전 지사는 또 “대구·경북 의원들은 내부 찬반투표와 강력한 압박 끝에 당내 합의를 이끌어냈지만, 국민의힘 충청권 의원들은 침묵만 지켰다”며 “360만 대전·충남 시도민의 미래가 당리당략에 묻혔다”고 주장했다.

그는 이어 “이재명 정부는 4년간 20조 원 규모의 재정 지원과 대폭적인 권한 이양을 약속했었다”며 “이 기회를 외면한 것은 국민의힘이며, 김태흠 지사와 이장우 시장, 장동혁 대표가 충청의 미래를 가로막았다”고 비판했다.

양승조 전 지사는 “대전·충남 통합의 문은 반드시 다시 열어야 한다”며 “국민의힘이 지금이라도 특별법 제정에 찬성해달라. 대구·경북도 찬성한 만큼 대전·충남만 반대할 이유가 없다”고 강조했다.
