세종의 아이들이 주말을 활용해 자신의 미래를 직접 설계하고 체험하는 특별한 배움의 장이 열렸다. 

세종특별자치시교육청진로교육원이하 진로교육원)은 18일, 2026년 새롭게 개편된 주말 프로그램인 ‘주말 진로 꿈 산책’ 운영을 본격적으로 시작했다. 

진로 체험실 활동을 중심으로 현장 교사 연계 진로 융합 수업, 기획 특집전, 이달의 사람책, 진로 상담 등을 하나의 체계로 통합하여 단순 체험 이상의 입체적인 프로그램으로 고도화했다.

학생들은 매월 초 진로교육원 누리집을 통해 선착순으로 프로그램을 신청할 수 있으며, 자신이 선택한 분야에 2시간 동안 깊이 있게 몰입하며 진로 역량을 키우게 된다. 

이번 달에는 손끝공예실, 탐사보도실, 지역사회탐구실, 의과학실, AI드론실 등 11개 체험실 중 5곳이 집중 운영됐다.

특히 현장 교사와 연계한 진로 융합 프로그램도 눈길을 끈다. 

진로 수업 공모전을 통해 선발된 초·중등 현직 교사들이 직접 강사로 나서 ‘나만의 캐릭터 굿즈 만들기’, ‘NFC 오디오북 제작’, ‘친환경 에코하우스 만들기’ 등 교과·진로 융합 수업을 진행했다. 

올해 신설된 ‘기획 특집전’ 또한 학생들의 호기심을 자극했다. 

이달의 주제인 ‘세종 지역 K-장인’에 맞춰 다식, 금속공예, 단청 등 전통 기술을 현대적 체험으로 재구조화해 학생들이 전통 직업의 가치와 미래 확장성을 동시에 경험할 수 있도록 했다. 

진로교육원은 향후 AI 신산업과 문화예술 등 시대 변화를 반영한 테마를 순차적으로 선보일 계획이다.

현장을 찾은 한 학부모는 “아이가 무엇을 좋아하는지 스스로 깨닫게 되는 수준 높은 체험이 많았다”며 만족감을 드러냈다. 

부모가 진로를 대신 정해주기 어려운 급변하는 시대에 이러한 공공 교육 서비스가 큰 힘이 된다는 반응이다.

문민식 진로교육원장은 학생들이 스스로 선택한 분야에 몰입하는 과정에서 주도성과 역량이 성장한다며, 앞으로도 의미 있는 진로 경험을 이어갈 수 있도록 프로그램을 더욱 내실화 하겠다고 밝혔다.

Completely reorganized into an integrated system of experiences, classes, and counseling… 11 experience rooms and field teacher-led integrated classes receive positive response

A special learning venue has opened where children in Sejong can utilize their weekends to directly design and experience their own futures.

On the 18th, the Sejong Special Self-Governing City Office of Education Career Education Center (hereinafter referred to as the Career Education Center) officially launched the ‘Weekend Career Dream Walk,’ a newly reorganized weekend program for 2026.

Centered on activities in the career experience rooms, the program has been advanced into a multi-dimensional experience beyond simple hands-on activities by integrating career convergence classes linked with field teachers, special exhibitions, the ‘Human Book of the Month,’ and career counseling into a single system.

Students can apply for the program on a first-come, first-served basis through the Career Education Center website at the beginning of each month. They will develop their career competencies by deeply immersing themselves in their chosen field for two hours. This month, five out of the eleven experience rooms—including the Handicrafts Room, Investigative Reporting Room, Community Exploration Room, Medical Science Room, and AI Drone Room—were operated intensively.

In particular, career convergence programs linked with teachers in the field attracted attention.

Current elementary and middle school teachers, selected through a career class contest, served as instructors to conduct curriculum-career convergence classes such as "Making My Own Character Goods," "NFC Audiobook Production," and "Building an Eco-Friendly House."

The "Special Exhibition," newly established this year, also stimulated students' curiosity.

In line with this month's theme, "Sejong Region K-Artisans," traditional skills such as Dasik (traditional tea snacks), metalwork, and Dancheong (traditional decorative painting) were restructured into modern experiences, allowing students to simultaneously experience the value of traditional professions and their future potential.

The Career Education Center plans to sequentially introduce themes reflecting the changing times, such as new AI industries and culture and arts, in the future. One parent who visited the site expressed satisfaction, saying, “There were many high-quality experiences that allowed my child to realize for themselves what they like.”

The general sentiment is that such public education services are a great help in a rapidly changing era where it is difficult for parents to decide career paths for their children.

Moon Min-sik, Director of the Career Education Center, stated that students’ initiative and competence grow as they immerse themselves in fields they have chosen themselves, and announced plans to further strengthen the programs to ensure that meaningful career experiences continue in the future.
