대전 서구가 기후 위기에 선제적으로 대응하고 지속 가능한 녹색 도시를 만들기 위해 공직자들을 대상으로 한 탄소중립 역량 강화 교육에 나선다. 

서구는 10일, 공직자의 정책 실천력을 높이기 위해 이론과 현장을 접목한 교육 프로그램을 오는 11월까지 운영한다고 밝혔다.

이번 교육은 공직자들이 지역 환경 문제의 심각성을 깊이 이해하고, 생태계 보존의 중요성을 직접 체감할 수 있도록 구성됐다. 특히 대전에서 유일하게 환경교육센터로 지정된 ‘노루벌적십자생태원’에서의 현장 체험 교육을 포함해 전 직원 특별교육 등 총 6회에 걸쳐 진행된다.

교육의 핵심 장소인 노루벌적십자생태원은 구봉산 자락과 노루벌이 어우러진 수려한 자연경관을 바탕으로 해마다 3만 명 이상의 방문객이 찾는 대전의 대표적인 생태 휴식 명소다. 

서구는 이곳에서의 생물다양성 교육과 체험 활동을 통해 공무원들이 환경 정책을 수립할 때 단순한 행정 절차를 넘어 실질적인 환경 감수성을 반영할 수 있도록 유도할 계획이다.

서구 관계자는 “지속 가능한 미래를 설계하기 위해서는 정책을 만드는 공직자들이 환경 문제를 자신의 일로 느끼는 것이 무엇보다 중요하다”며 “이번 교육을 통해 전 직원이 기후 위기 대응 역량을 갖춰 구민들이 실질적으로 체감할 수 있는 실효성 있는 환경 정책을 펼쳐 나가겠다”고 강조했다.
