충남 서산시의회 더불어민주당 소속 의원들이 지방소멸 위기 속 행정통합 추진을 무산시킨 국민의힘 측 정치인을 규탄하는 기자회견을 열었다.

26일 서산시청 브리핑실에서 열린 회견에서 가선숙, 김용경, 문수기, 안효돈,이경화, 최동묵 더불어민주당 의원 일동은 충남·대전 행정통합 특별법이 국회 법사위에서 통과되지 못한 책임을 이장우 대전시장, 김태흠 충남지사, 그리고 국민의힘 소속 시·도의회에 돌렸다.

의원들은 "충남도와 대전시는 지역 발전을 위해 통합 깃발을 들었으나, 6월 지방선거를 앞두고 정치적 입지 우려로 등을 돌렸다"며 "선거 유불리와 기득권 보호에만 매달린 무책임한 행태"라고 비판했다.

이들은 정부가 제시한 파격적 재정 지원과 권한 이양 인센티브를 "지역 발전의 마중물"로 평가하며, 국민의힘이 이를 스스로 포기한 점을 지적했다. 특히 대구·경북 통합 논의도 내부 혼란으로 지지부진하다고 꼬집었다.
