정청래 대표 "국민의힘이 먼저 제안하고, 이제와 뒤집는 것은 지역민 우롱하는 처사"

대전과 충남 지역 정치권과 지역 주민 1500여 명이 2월 23일 오전 11시 서울 여의도 국회 본청 앞에서 ‘충남·대전 미래 말살하는 국민의힘 규탄대회’를 열고 국민의힘의 이중잣대와 지역 홀대에 분노를 터뜨렸다. 

더불어민주당 대전광역시당과 충남·대전통합 및 충청지역발전특별위원회가 주관한 이날 집회에는 정청래 당 대표를 비롯해 한병도 원내대표, 이언주 최고위원, 황명선 상임위원장, 조승래 사무총장, 박정현 대전시당위원장, 이정문 충남도당위원장 등 당 지도부와 지역 국회의원들이 대거 참석해 국민의힘의 통합 반대 행태를 강하게 비판했다.

이 자리에서 민주당 지도부는 국민의힘이 충남·대전 행정통합 특별법안의 국회 통과를 코앞에 두고 돌연 반대 입장으로 선회한 것을 강도 높게 규탄했다. 

정청래 대표는 “국민의힘이 먼저 제안하고 행정 절차까지 진행한 사안을 이제 와서 뒤집는 것은 지역민을 우롱하는 행위”라며 “장동혁 대표는 당 입장 번복에 대해 국민에게 사죄하고 충남·대전 통합에 책임 있게 응답해야 한다”고 촉구했다.

한병도 원내대표도 “행정안전위원회에서 야당 간사가 충남·대전 통합을 공식적으로 제외하려 했다”며 “민심을 거부하면 모든 책임은 국민의힘에 돌아갈 것”이라고 경고했다. 

황명선 특위 상임위원장은 “충남·대전 통합은 국가 생존 전략이자 충청의 100년 대계임에도 선거 전략에 따라 지역 미래를 정치적 소모품으로 삼는 국민의힘 태도를 멈춰야 한다”고 질타했다.

또한 박범계 특위 공동위원장은 지방 주도 성장의 출발점으로 충남·대전 통합의 중요성을 강조하며 김태흠 지사와 이장우 시장이 통합에 협력할 것을 호소했다. 

박정현 대전시당위원장은 대구·경북, 광주·전남 통합법과 충남·대전법이 핵심 내용에서 다르지 않음에도 유독 충남·대전만 가로막는 것은 명백한 지역 홀대라고 비판했다. 

이정문 충남도당위원장도 다른 지역 통합에는 박수를 보내면서 충남·대전만 반대하는 국민의힘의 정치적 계산을 규탄했다.

더불어민주당은 이날 결의문을 통해 “법과 예산, 제도로 뒷받침되는 실질적인 대전·충남 행정통합을 완성하겠다”며 국회 법제사법위원회와 본회의에서 특별법 통과를 위해 총력전을 펼칠 것을 다짐했다.

행사 현장에서는 “충남·대전 행정통합 가로막는 내란 잔당 해체하라”, “충남·대전 홀대하는 내란 잔당 규탄한다”, “대구·경북은 YES, 충남·대전만 NO! 국민의힘 규탄한다”, “대전·충남 통합, 국민의힘과 장동혁은 결단하라” 등의 구호가 외쳐졌다.

이번 규탄대회는 충남·대전 행정통합 특별법안의 원활한 국회 통과를 막으며 지역 발전을 가로막는 국민의힘의 이중적 태도와 지역 홀대를 고발하는 시민과 정치권의 목소리가 응집된 집회였다.
