[Daejeon Fire Department, real-time sharing of hospital information...A green light for emergency patient transfer]

The transfer of emergency patients in Daejeon has become even faster.

Daejeon Fire Department (Chief Chae Su-jong) and Chungnam National University Hospital (Hospital Director Hwan-joong Yoon) have developed a nationwide 'real-time hospital information sharing system' that allows faster and more accurate transfer to hospitals that can provide treatment according to the patient's biometric information such as blood pressure and pulse and symptoms. It was first built and operated.

The 'real-time hospital information sharing system' is the first in Korea to input basic information such as blood pressure, pulse rate, respiration rate, and body temperature measured by 119 paramedics at the location of the patient and the patient's main symptoms into the app developed for the first time in Korea. Information on the bed of an emergency room that can receive appropriate treatment in a short distance will be provided to paramedics.

In addition, it is a system that shares information on quarantine beds that can accommodate suspected COVID-19 patients in real time.

In the meantime, patients are concentrated in tertiary general hospitals due to the different classification methods used by 119 paramedics and emergency medical institutions. To solve the problem, the Daejeon Fire Department and Chungnam National University Hospital worked together to develop it.

To this end, the 'Emergency Patient Severity Classification Tool' was newly developed based on the patient classification scale used in advanced European countries such as the UK and the guidelines of the 119 paramedics. pre-training was conducted.

Recently, as the number of suspected COVID-19 patients has increased, similar cases continue to occur in some areas, such as cases where patients with convulsions cannot recover their consciousness due to delayed treatment while wandering around 29 hospitals because they cannot find a treatment facility. .

This system is expected to partially solve the problem of 119 paramedics wandering around in search of transfer hospitals or waiting for a long time in front of hospitals by sharing information on negative pressure isolation beds and general isolation beds for treatment of patients with suspected COVID-19 in real time.

When the real-time hospital information sharing system is established, patients in the region will be dispersed and transferred to each medical institution, which will not only secure golden time for severe emergency patients, but also improve the survival rate of severe emergency patients in Daejeon and make a great contribution to the rapid treatment of patients with COVID-19. It is expected.

Song Jeong-ho, head of the rescue and emergency department at the Daejeon Fire Department, said, “In the meantime, emergency patients have been concentrated in high-level hospitals such as university hospitals, and the COVID-19 pandemic has also made it difficult for emergency patients to receive treatment in a timely manner. I hope that citizens will trust and follow the 119 paramedics as we select the nearest hospital that can be treated accordingly.”
