세종시문화재단이 오는 30일부터 세종문화예술회관을 위탁 운영한다.

조치원읍에 위치한 세종문화예술회관은 지난 2,000년 10월 연기문화예술회관으로 개관했다.

이후 2012년 7월 세종특별자치시 출범에 따라 명칭이 세종문화예술회관으로 변경되었고, 그동안 세종시 시설관리사업소에서 운영해 왔다.

문예회관은 지난 20년 동안 지역 내 유일한 공연장으로 역할을 다하며 공연문화 활성화를 도모해왔다.

다만, 전문 인력 부재로 대관 위주에 그쳐 세종시는 문예회관의 활성화 및  내년 개관하는 세종예술의전당과의 효율성 제고를 위해 관리 운영을 문화재단으로 전환하기로 결정했다.

이에 따라 문화재단은 문예회관을 프로듀싱이 가능한 전문 공연시설로 발전시켜 나가겠다는 계획이다.    

우선 지난 7월 조직개편을 통해 문화예술회관팀을 신설했다.

운영인력을 기존 5명에서 7명으로 확대했고, 대관단체를 위한 스텝회의 공간 마련 등 전문공연장 시스템으로 발전시켜 나가기 위해 시설개선 공사를 준비 중이다.

복합장르의 특성화된 공연장 운영, 가족을 대상으로 하는 시리즈 공연 제작, 야외 페스티벌 등 특색 있는 프로그램의 공연기획 역량도 발휘할 계획이다.

또한 2층에 위치한 청소년문화의집이 내년 초 복합커뮤니티 시설로 이전함에 따라 사무실을 리모델링한 뒤 시립청소년 오케스트라의 연습공간으로 제공할 예정이다. 

지역 예술단체들의 안정적인 창작 환경을 지원해 온 상주단체 사무실 역시 지속적으로 운영하며, 지역예술인들과 공연으로 함께 상생할 수 있는 다양한 방법을 모색 중이다.
