[Daejeon City, the old Daejeon Industrial Complex converted to Digital Innovation Industrial Complex]

Daejeon is expected to make a new leap forward from the aging Daejeon Industrial Complex as a digital innovation complex.

Daejeon Mayor Hur Tae-jeong announced a hopeful blueprint to transform Daejeon Industrial Complex into a digital innovation complex that meets the changing times and conditions through a municipal briefing on the afternoon of the 27th.

The Daejeon Industrial Complex was established in the 1970s and has been around for 50 years. Since this March, Daejeon Industrial Complex Regeneration Project Advisory Group has been organized and operated as experts for a dynamic industrial complex that runs again in Daejeon City. In order to revitalize industrial complexes, various methods have been sought.
According to the announcement from the city of Daejeon on that day, in order to make the Daejeon Industrial Complex a leap forward as a digital innovative industrial complex, there are three three: ① rational easing and adjustment of restricted businesses, ② efficient land use such as setting up special planning zones, and ③ cutting-edge and technological advancement through the large-scale industrial complex project. We have prepared the directions for promotion.

First, it is planned to consider granting incentives, such as easing restrictions on restricted-in businesses, such as easing regulations on restricted-in businesses, and allowing neighborhood living facilities as well as easing existing regulations for restricted-industrial businesses by changing the regeneration implementation plan.

In addition, by reviewing the suspension of the maintenance period (26 years) in the industrial complex of the current restricted industry, it plans to improve management conditions such as the exercise of property rights, and promote voluntary environmental improvement and smartization.

Second, in order to increase the efficiency of land use, the area incorporated by Gapcheon will be designated as a specially planned area to promote private-private development, securing business feasibility for private businesses, and preparing a knowledge industry center and space for start-ups.

In addition, it plans to implement a virtuous cycle system through the inflow and outflow of hazardous and attracted businesses by taking measures for relocation such as the creation of an eco-friendly industrial complex, and to achieve the efficiency of land through the pick-up project.

Daejeon City supports R&D, commercialization, working environment, smart factories, etc. through industrial complex expansion through cutting-edge industrial complex project and smart green industrial complex through industrial complex technology advancement.

Daejeon City is planning to establish and support a specialized innovation plan through customized demand surveys tailored to the characteristics of the enterprise by organizing an industrial complex large-scale promotion group composed of experts and public and private sectors, and reborn as an innovation base for local industries in the image of an old industrial complex.

Heo Tae-jeong, mayor of Daejeon, said, “In the annexed area along Gapcheon, we will create a citizen-friendly complex where housing and industry are harmonized, and the existing industrial complex will not only improve the environment of tenant companies by attracting high-tech industries, but also transform into a smart green industrial complex through technological advancement.” He talked about the future of the Daejeon Industrial Complex.

In addition, he said, "For this, we will do our best to show the new future of the Daejeon Industrial Complex in the near future through drastic deregulation and adjustment, and financial support through selection and concentration in the future."

Meanwhile, Daejeon Industrial Complex was selected as a pilot project district for reorganization of old industrial complexes in 2009, and in 2012, the Daejeon Industrial Complex Regeneration Plan and Regeneration Project District was designated as a public announcement.
