[Chungnam National University Hospital ranked 1st in infectious disease management facility evaluation]

Chungnam National University Hospital ranked first among 29 medical institutions in the ‘2020 Infectious Disease Control Facility Evaluation’ organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Disease Management Administration (for 4 consecutive years).

The evaluation of infectious disease management facilities has been conducted annually since 2017 for medical institutions operating 29 nationally designated inpatient treatment beds in accordance with the Infectious Disease Prevention and Management Act.

Evaluation items include facility standard suitability (7 indicators), workforce adequacy (6 indicators), treatment and operation (7 indicators), additional points, etc., securing stability for patients and medical staff, and infection (doubt) The goal is to make every effort to prepare for new infectious diseases by maintaining the mobility of quarantined beds that can be responded to in the event of a patient occurrence and checking and managing preparedness and response posture.

Currently, Chungnam National University Hospital, as an infectious disease management institution, opened a nationally designated inpatient treatment bed, which is an infectious disease management facility for preparing and responding to new infectious diseases, in 2010, and played a pivotal role as an inpatient treatment bed at the time of MERS in 2015, and in 2017, it expanded negative pressure. Through the project, it has expanded 8 beds and 8 rooms (one-person ward) to provide safer facilities and is doing its best to respond to new infectious diseases in the Daejeon and Chungcheong areas.

On the other hand, due to the outbreak of Corona 19 in 2020, it is a very dangerous and urgent situation for Daejeon City without a medical center and Sejong City without treatment beds. From January 22 last year, the first confirmed patient hospitalized treatment by operating the nationally designated hospital treatment bed on February 21st. Starting with, in preparation for the occurrence of a large number of confirmed cases, a total of 36 beds were operated to respond to the corona by converting a general bed into a treatment bed and preparing a bed (installation of a portable negative pressure device) capable of inpatient treatment.

As a result, many confirmed patients with severe and mild corona19 have been treated so far, and they have been discharged healthily through hospitalization treatment for severely ill patients in Daegu and Gyeongbuk as well as in Sejong and Chungcheong areas. Recently, a total of 42 beds are in operation with 6 additional treatment beds dedicated to severe patients.
