충남 서산시 지역 생활체육 동호인들의 뜨거운 열정과 에너지가 서산종합운동장을 가득 채웠다. 일상 속 건강 증진과 동호인 간의 화합을 도모하는 서산시 최대 규모의 체육 축제가 대성황을 이뤘다.

서산시는 지난 13일부터 14일까지 이틀간 서산종합운동장 일원에서 개최된 ‘제28회 서산시장기 생활체육대회’가 동호인들의 뜨거운 호응 속에 성공적으로 마무리됐다고 15일 밝혔다.

서산시체육회가 주최하고 서산시 회원종목단체가 주관한 이번 대회에는 관내 총 19개 종목에서 4,200여 명의 생활체육 동호인들이 대거 참가해 그동안 갈고닦은 기량을 유감없이 발휘하며 열띤 경쟁을 펼쳤다.

이번 대회는 게이트볼, 골프, 궁도, 그라운드골프, 농구, 댄스스포츠, 배구, 배드민턴, 볼링, 수영, 스쿼시, 야구소프트볼, 족구, 축구, 탁구, 테니스, 파크골프를 비롯해 국학기공, 우드볼 등 남녀노소 누구나 참여할 수 있는 다채로운 종목으로 구성돼 명실상부한 ‘시민 화합의 장’ 역할을 톡톡히 해냈다.

경기장 곳곳에서는 승패를 떠나 서로를 격려하고 응원하는 건강한 스포츠맨십이 연출돼 대회의 의미를 더했다.

대회 첫날인 13일에 열린 개회식에는 이완섭 서산시장을 비롯해 체육계 관계자와 주요 내빈들이 참석해 선수단을 격려했다. 

특히 이 자리에서는 평소 남다른 사명감과 봉사 정신으로 지역 생활체육 발전 및 저변 확대에 크게 이바지한 유공자 15명에게 시장 표창 등을 수여하며 공로를 치하하는 뜻깊은 시간도 가졌다.

이완섭 서산시장은 이틀간 열정적인 경기를 펼치며 대회를 빛내주신 동호인 여러분의 모습에서 건강하고 활력 넘치는 서산의 미래를 보았다며면서, 시는 앞으로도 시민 누구나 성별과 연령에 구애받지 않고 일상에서 스포츠를 마음껏 즐길 수 있도록 생활체육 환경 조성과 인프라 확충에 더욱 힘쓰겠다고 강조했다.
