강미애 제5대 세종교육감 당선인이 인수위원회 출범과 함께 향후 4년간 세종 교육의 변화를 이끌어갈 혁신 청사진을 공개했다.

강 당선인은 9일 오후 세종시교육청 대회의실에서 기자회견을 열고 “이번 선거는 세종교육의 미래를 결정짓는 시민들의 중대한 선택이었다”며 “시민들이 부여한 변화와 혁신, 그리고 실력 있는 교육 행정에 대한 책임을 무겁게 받아들이고 오직 교육 발전만을 바라보며 나아가겠다”고 각오를 다졌다.

전날 공식 출범한 제5대 세종교육감직 인수위원회에 대해서는 단순한 업무 인계 조직이 아니라는 점을 분명히 했다. 강 당선인은 “인수위는 시민들과 맺은 약속을 구체적인 실행 계획으로 다듬고, 향후 4년의 세종교육 미래를 설계하는 중추적인 출발점이 될 것”이라고 설명했다.

효율적이고 전문적인 운영을 위해 인수위는 학력·교육과정 분과 ,미래교육·기획 분과 ,안전·복지·재정 분과 등 총 3개 분과 체제로 나누어 가동된다.

이날 회견에서는 임기 내 추진할 시기별 핵심 과제도 구체화됐다.

당장 올해 추진할 단기 과제로는 200억 원 규모의 글로벌 진로탐험대 운영을 비롯해 장기 프로젝트형 자유학기제 도입, 초등학교 3학년 영어 수업 전면 확대, 초등 3~6학년 평가 정례화 등이 포함됐다.

오는 2027년까지 이어질 중기 과제로는 자율형 공립고 확대와 비명 인식 CCTV 설치를 통한 안전한 학교 환경 구축이 제시됐다. 아울러 영재체육 시스템 개선, 초등 4~6학년 체육 바우처 지원, 교권 보호를 위한 법률지원 시스템 구축 및 교사 성장지원제 도입 등 교육 구성원 모두를 위한 정책도 추진된다.

더 나아가 중장기 과제로는 미래 인재 양성의 기반이 될 AI 디지털 특성화고 지정·운영과 국제중학교 신설 방안이 청사진에 담겼다.

강 당선인은 “학생의 학력 신장과 진로 개척, 안전 확보는 물론 교사의 전문성 강화까지 아우르는 것이 세종교육 혁신의 본질”이라며 “33년간 교사와 장학사, 교장 등을 거치며 교육 현장에서 쌓아온 풍부한 경험을 쏟아부어 세종교육의 새로운 도약을 이뤄내겠다”고 강조했다.

이어 “세종교육에 시급한 것은 소모적인 진영 논리가 아니라 학생의 실력을 키우고 학부모의 신뢰를 회복하는 일”이라며 “학생이 성장하고 교사가 존중받으며, 학부모가 안심하고 맡길 수 있는 세종교육을 반드시 만들겠다”고 덧붙였다.
