제9회 전국동시지방선거에서 충남 서천군수로 당선된 더불어민주당 유승광 당선인이 “민심은 곧 천심”이라며 “이번 결과는 침체된 서천 경제를 되살리고 새로운 리더십을 세워달라는 군민들의 엄중한 명령”이라고 당선 소감을 전했다.

유승광 당선인은 당선 확정 직후 발표한 소감문에서 먼저 경쟁 상대에 대한 예우를 갖췄다. 유 당선인은 “선거 기간 마지막까지 최선을 다해 경쟁을 펼쳐주신 김기웅 후보께 진심 어린 위로의 인사를 건넨다”며 포용의 메시지를 냈다.

이어 유 당선인은 지역 경제 회복을 최우선 과제로 꼽으며 여당과의 긴밀한 공조를 강조했다. 

그는 “막중한 책임감을 지니고 서천 발전을 이끄는 군수가 되겠다”며 “대통령을 비롯해 박수현 충남도지사 당선인, 그리고 서천군수가 굳건한 ‘원팀(One-Team)’을 이뤄 과감하게 정부 예산을 확보하고 구체적인 민생 성과로 군민들의 지갑을 두둑하게 채우겠다”고 다짐했다.

공직사회의 대대적인 체질 개선과 혁신에 대한 구상도 명확히 했다. 유 당선인은 “비상식적인 관행이나 구태는 과감하게 타파하고, 오직 ‘실력’과 ‘성과’에 기반해 평가받는 투명한 공직 문화를 정착시키겠다”며 “이를 통해 군민들이 어디서나 당당하게 자부심을 느낄 수 있는 자랑스러운 서천을 일궈내겠다”고 선언했다.

끝으로 유 당선인은 “서천의 도약을 위해 머뭇거리거나 지체할 시간이 없다”라며 “임기 시작과 동시에 온몸을 바쳐 현장을 누비며 일하겠다”고 강력한 추진 의지를 피력했다.
