정부가 해양수산부에 이어 산하 공공기관의 부산 이전을 가속화하자 세종 지역 시민사회가 강력히 반발하고 나섰다.

세종시민들로 구성된 '해수부시민지킴이단'은 31일 기자회견을 열고, 지난 26일 국무회의를 통과한 '부산 해양수도 이전기관 지원에 관한 특별법 시행령'을 정면으로 비판하며 관련 기관의 이전 추진을 즉각 중단하라고 촉구했다.

이들은 회견문에서 "정부는 이번 시행령 제정이 부산의 해양산업 경쟁력을 강화하기 위한 조치라고 강변하지만, 그 이면에는 한국해양교통안전공단과 한국항로표지기술원 등 세종에 위치한 해수부 산하기관의 부산 이전을 본격화하려는 의도가 숨어 있다"고 날을 세웠다.

단체는 지난해 감행된 해양수산부의 부산 이전으로 인해 세종시의 인구 유입이 둔화되고 지역 경제가 이미 타격을 입었다고 진단했다. 이러한 상황에서 세종시 아름동에 자리를 잡은 두 산하기관마저 추가로 이전된다면 아름동 상권을 비롯한 세종 지역 소상공인과 전반적인 경제에 심각한 치명타가 될 것이라고 우려했다.
