6·3 지방선거의 본투표를 목전에 둔 마지막 주말, 국민의힘 오성환 당진시장 후보가 관내 전 지역을 촘촘히 훑는 저인망식 현장 유세를 펼치며 막판 표심 굳히기에 사력을 다하고 있다.

선거전이 종착지를 향해 가면서 오 후보는 지역 전통시장과 중심 상권, 대단지 아파트 단지, 주요 교차로 등을 쉴 새 없이 이동하며 유권자들과의 접촉면을 극대화했다. 그는 현장에서 주민들의 생생한 건의 사항을 수렴하는 한편, 민선 8기 4년간 쌓아 올린 행정 성과와 향후 당진의 미래 청사진을 설득력 있게 제시하는 데 주력했다.

오성환 후보는 시민들과 만난 자리에서 “4년 전 취임 당시 주민 여러분께 약속드렸던 ‘발로 뛰는 현장 시장’이 되기 위해 단 한 순간도 안주하지 않고 치열하게 뛰어왔다”고 소회를 밝히며, “이번 선거는 지나온 4년간의 도정 성과에 대한 엄중한 평가이자, 당진이 주저앉느냐 더 크게 도약하느냐를 가르는 중대한 갈림길”이라고 강조했다.

그는 “50년 만에 인구 17만 명 선을 돌파하는 쾌거를 이룬 것을 비롯해 대규모 기업 투자 유치, 전국 최고 수준의 고용률 유지, 교육 및 의료 인프라의 획기적 확충 등 눈에 보이는 가시적 변화를 이끌어냈다”라며 “시민들과 합작해 궤도에 올려놓은 당진의 성장 동력이 끊기지 않고 가속화될 수 있도록 다시 한번 압도적인 지지를 보내달라”고 호소했다.

거 거리 유세에서 오 후보는 핵심 미래 공약들을 조목조목 설명하며 정책 선거 기조를 이어갔다. 

구체적으로는 지역 내 종합병원 건립 ,명문 자율형사립고 유치 추진 ,교통망 확충을 위한 제2서해대교 건설 ,합덕역세권 복합 개발 ,당진항의 글로벌 물류 거점 육성 ,신성장 미래산업 생태계 구축 등을 핵심 과제로 제시했다.

특히 그는 “도시의 진정한 경쟁력은 주민들이 체감하는 정주 여건과 삶의 질에서 비롯된다”고 강조하며, “아이들에게는 풍부한 교육 기회를, 청년들에게는 양질의 일자리를 제공하고 어르신들은 안락한 복지를 누리는 도시, 나아가 외지인들이 스스로 찾아오는 매력적인 당진을 만들겠다”고 약속했다.

오성환 후보 선거대책위원회 관계자는 “투표 당일까지 캠프의 모든 행정·조직적 역량을 현장에 쏟아부어 유권자 한 분이라도 더 만날 것”이라며 “마지막 선거운동 전광판이 꺼지는 순간까지 가장 낮고 겸손한 자세로 당진시민들의 목소리에 귀 기울이며 진심을 전달하겠다”고 선거 전략을 전했다.

한편 오 후보는 본투표 개시 전까지 당진시 관내 읍·면·동 전역을 순회하는 거점별 집중 유세와 밀착형 소통 행보를 병행하며 부동층 흡수와 지지층 결집에 총력을 기울일 예정이다.
