대전시장 선거를 앞두고 거대 양당 간의 폭로전과 법적 공방으로 치닫고 있다.

더불어민주당 대전시당 선거대책위원회는 19일 논평을 통해 국민의힘 이장우 후보가 대전시장 재임 시절, 대전한화생명볼파크 스카이박스 시즌권을 구단으로부터 무상 상납받아 유용했다는 의혹을 제기했다. 

민주당 측은 대전시가 특혜 논란을 피하고자 관변단체인 대전사랑시민협의회를 내세워 우회 수령한 뒤, 시장 비서실의 통제 하에 민간단체와 기업, 언론 등에 배분하며 권력형 선심 행정을 펼쳤다고 주장했다. 

이에 대해 이장우 후보 측은 즉각 허위 사실에 기반한 악의적인 흑색선전이라며 강력히 반발했다. 

이 후보 측은 해당 시즌권이 한화이글스 구단과 대전사랑시민협의회 간의 정상적인 계약 관계일 뿐이라며, 이 후보 개인이 사적으로 표를 취득하거나 사용했다는 객관적 근거가 전혀 없다고 선을 그었다. 

이어 민간기업과 시민단체의 사회공헌 목적 계약을 선거와 무리하게 연결해 낙선을 유도하려는 정치적 공세에 대해 민·형사상 법적 책임을 묻겠다고 경고했다.

한편 국민의힘 대전시당은 민주당 허태정 후보를 공직선거법상 호별방문 금지 위반 혐의로 대전지방경찰청에 고발하며 맞불을 놨다. 

국힘 측은 허 후보가 지난 2월 대전스타트업파크 내 입주기업 사무실을 개별 방문해 명함을 배포한 행위가 불법 선거운동에 해당한다고 지적했다. 

이에 허 후보 측은 이미 지난 2월 선관위 조사가 끝난 사안이라며, 이 후보가 스카이박스 특혜 의혹으로 궁지에 몰리자 철 지난 사건으로 본질을 흐리려는 물타기 시도를 하고 있다고 개탄했다.

In response, Candidate Lee Jang-woo's camp immediately strongly pushed back, calling it malicious smear campaign based on false facts. Candidate Lee's camp drew a clear line, stating that the season ticket in question is merely a normal contractual relationship between the Hanwha Eagles club and the Daejeon Love Citizens' Council, and that there is absolutely no objective evidence that Candidate Lee personally acquired or used the votes for private purposes.

They further warned that they would hold those responsible legally accountable, both civilly and criminally, for the political offensive attempting to induce his defeat by unreasonably linking a social contribution contract between a private company and a civic group to the election.

Meanwhile, the People Power Party's Daejeon City Chapter retaliated by filing a complaint with the Daejeon Regional Police Agency against Democratic Party candidate Heo Tae-jeong for violating the ban on door-to-door visits under the Public Official Election Act.

The People Power Party pointed out that Candidate Heo's act of distributing business cards during individual visits to tenant offices within the Daejeon Startup Park last February constitutes illegal election campaigning.

In response, Candidate Heo's camp lamented that the matter had already been investigated by the National Election Commission last February, and that Candidate Lee is attempting to obscure the essence of the issue by bringing up an outdated incident now that he is cornered by allegations of preferential treatment regarding the Skybox.
