허태정 더불어민주당 대전시장 후보가 대덕특구의 우수한 연구 성과를 시민들의 실제 소득으로 연결하는 '대한민국 첨단경제 중심도시 대전' 비전을 전격 선언했다. 

이는 단순한 일회성 산업 지원 정책에서 벗어나 연구와 산업, 일자리가 유기적으로 맞물려 돌아가는 통합형 경제 생태계를 구축하겠다는 구상으로 해석된다.

허 후보는 19일 자신의 선거사무소에서 기자회견을 개최하고 대전 경제의 질적 성장을 견인할 4대 핵심 전략과 7대 핵심 공약을 발표했다. 이 자리에서 허 후보는 임기 내 지역 경제 규모를 75조 원 대까지 끌어올리고 양질의 일자리 10만 개를 창출하겠다는 구체적인 목표를 공언했다.

허 후보가 제시한 비전의 핵심 골자는 대전이 보유한 세계적 수준의 연구 역량을 지역 경제의 신성장 동력으로 치환하는 데 있다. 단편적인 산업 육성책을 넘어 '연구가 산업으로, 산업이 일자리로, 일자리가 다시 시민 소득으로' 이어지는 선순환 구조를 완성하겠다는 중장기적 전략이다.

아울러 민선 7기 시정에서 거둔 성과인 바이오메디컬 규제자유특구 지정, 스타트업파크 및 팁스타운 구축 등을 구체적 사례로 언급하며 이미 대전의 딥테크 산업 기반은 충분히 다져진 상태라고 역설했다.

도시의 지속 가능한 성장을 견인할 4대 핵심 전략으로는 대덕연구개발특구 재창조를 통한 첨단산업도시로의 전환, 동반성장 및 스케일업 중심의 산업구조 개편, 전통 서비스업 위주에서 미래형 첨단제조업 중심의 경제 체질 개선, 대한민국 AI 실증 인프라 중심도시 도약 등이 제시됐다.

이를 뒷받침할 7대 핵심 공약에는 첨단 기술 인프라 구축 방안이 대거 포함됐다. 허 후보는 초대형 GPU 데이터센터를 구축하고 시장 직속의 AI 전략 총괄기구를 신설하겠다고 밝혔다. 

또한 AI를 기반으로 한 안산 국방산업단지 정상화와 방산 AI 및 반도체 클러스터 조성, 공공파운드리 기반 첨단센서 산업 육성, 의료·바이오 혁신 클러스터 구축, 분산에너지 및 스마트 전력망 도입 등을 약속했다.

특히 글로벌 창업 도시 조성을 위해 유니콘 유망기업 30개와 첨단 벤처기업 2,000개를 집중 육성하고 1,000건의 기술사업화를 달성하겠다는 구체적인 수치를 내놓았다. 

이와 함께 '대전형 시민성장펀드 1조 원'을 조성해 기술혁신의 경제적 과실을 시민들이 자산 형태로 직접 공유할 수 있도록 하겠다는 방침을 설명했다.

허 후보는 대전의 경제적 위상을 한 단계 높이기 위한 구체적인 성과지표도 함께 공개했다. 2025년 기준 약 57조에서 58조 원 수준인 지방 경제 규모를 임기 내 75조 원까지 확대하고, 1인당 지역총생산 역시 기존 3,665만 원에서 5,000만 원으로 끌어올리겠다고 선언했다. 

현재 2,875만 원 수준인 1인당 시민 소득 또한 3,500만 원 달성을 공언했다.
