급변하는 디지털 독서 트렌드와 고도화되는 스마트 환경에 발맞춰 대전 시민들이 장소와 수량에 구애받지 않고 마음껏 지식을 탐하는 길이 열렸다. 

대전 한밭도서관은 모바일 기반 독서 수요 증가에 대응해 시민 편의성을 획기적으로 높인 ‘구독형 전자책 서비스’를 확대 운영한다고 19일 밝혔다. 

특히 올해부터는 기존의 전자책 대출 권수와 이용 기간 제한을 과감히 폐지하고 ‘무제한 운영’ 체제로 전환해 이용 편의성을 극대화할 방침이다.

‘구독형 전자책 서비스’는 스마트폰이나 태블릿 등 모바일 기기만 보유하고 있으면 시간과 공간의 제약 없이 언제 어디서나 독서를 즐길 수 있다는 점이 가장 큰 매력이다. 

종이책에 비해 휴대가 간편할 뿐 아니라, 독서 취약계층이나 시니어층을 위한 글자 크기 조절 기능 등 맞춤형 뷰어 환경을 지원해 다양한 연령대의 이용자들로부터 큰 호응을 얻고 있다. 

한밭도서관은 지난 2025년 4월 구독형 전자책 서비스를 최초 도입한 이후 이용률이 가파르게 수직 상승함에 따라, 도민들의 목소리를 적극 반영해 신간 도서와 스테디셀러, 전문 서적 등 양질의 콘텐츠를 대폭 확충했다.

해당 서비스는 대전공공도서관 정회원 자격을 갖춘 시민이라면 누구나 전액 무료로 이용할 수 있다. 

접속 절차도 간소화됐다. 대전공공도서관 공식 누리집에 접속해 전자책 메뉴에서 ‘구독형 전자책 이용하기’를 선택한 뒤, Yes24 로그인 과정을 거쳐 이용권을 발급받으면 된다. 

이후 모바일 기기에 ‘Yes24 eBook’ 앱을 설치하거나 PC 뷰어를 다운로드하면 원하는 도서를 즉시 열람할 수 있다. 

한밭도서관은 개편된 무제한 이용 방식에 따른 시민들의 행정 혼선을 예방하기 위해 ‘간편 이용 가이드’를 제작, 온·오프라인 채널을 통해 집중 배포하고 있다.

아울러 대전공공도서관은 구독형 전자책 외에도 시민들의 다채로운 지적 욕구를 충족시킬 풍성한 전자자료 서비스를 병행 운영 중이다. 

현재 도서관 측은 소장형 전자책을 비롯해 귀로 듣는 오디오북, 직무 및 교양 역량을 키워주는 강의형 북러닝 콘텐츠, 연구원과 학생들을 위한 학술원문 데이터베이스(DB), 최신 트렌드를 읽을 수 있는 전자잡지 및 전자신문 등 다채로운 디지털 자산을 무료로 서비스하며 지식 정보 격차 해소에 앞장서고 있다.
