김영춘 충남교육감 후보는 18일 후보 캠프 사무실에서 학교사랑학부모연합과 정밀한 정책 간담회를 개최하고, 충남 교육이 마주한 해묵은 과제와 학부모들의 절박한 요구사항을 경청하며 현장 중심의 시정 운영을 약속했다.

이날 간담회에는 천안학부모회협의회 양은선 회장을 비롯한 교육 시민사회 관계자들이 대거 참석해 일선 교육 현장의 생생한 목소리를 가감 없이 전달했다. 

학부모 측은 아이들의 안정적인 학습권 보장을 위한 삭감 없는 교육예산 확보를 필두로, 통학로 안전대책 강구, 노후 학교시설 개선, 체육중·체육고 및 특수학교 설립 등 인프라 확충을 강하게 요구했다. 

특히 천안과 아산 지역의 가파른 인구 유입에 따른 음봉 고등학교 및 차암동 중학교 신설, 동남구 특수학교 설립을 포함한 특수교육기관의 획기적인 확충 등 지역 맞춤형 교육 환경 조성을 더 이상 미룰 수 없는 당면 과제로 제시했다. 

양은선 회장은 교육정책이 탁상공론에 그치지 않고 학생과 학부모가 피부로 체감할 수 있어야 한다며, 행정 당국의 책임감 있는 결단과 대책 마련을 촉구했다.

이에 대해 김영춘 후보는 학부모들의 제안에 전폭적인 공감을 표하며 구체적인 교육 정책 비전으로 화답했다. 

김 후보는 우선 무상급식과 무상교복, 고교무상교육으로 대변되는 이른바 ‘3무 교육’ 체계를 흔들림 없이 수호하겠다고 선언하며 보편적 교육 복지의 후퇴를 원천 차단하겠다는 의지를 분명히 했다. 

나아가 학교 노후시설 정비와 촘촘한 통학로 안전 인프라 구축을 통해 안심하고 보낼 수 있는 교실을 일구겠다고 공언했다. 

아울러 학부모들의 숙원 사업인 불당동 과밀학급 해소와 음봉 고등학교, 차암동 중학교, 동남구 특수학교 신설 등 지역 교육 현안들을 현장 중심으로 하나씩 타개해 나가겠다고 강조했다.

특히 김 후보는 날로 심각해지는 학교폭력 문제와 관련하여 완전히 차별화된 교육학적 메커니즘을 도입하겠다고 천명해 이목을 집중시켰다. 

기존의 형식적인 특별교육이나 시간 채우기식 처벌 위주의 대책으로는 학교폭력의 고리를 끊을 수 없다고 단언한 것이다.
