대전시의회가 발표한 2026년 1분기 민원 처리 현황에 따르면, 올해 1월부터 3월까지 접수된 총 민원은 1,665건으로 집계됐다. 

이는 지난해 같은 기간 접수된 14건과 비교해 약 119배나 급증한 수치다. 이 중 특정 현안에 대해 다수의 시민이 의견을 낸 ‘다중 민원’은 1,621건으로 전체의 97%를 차지했다.

가장 압도적인 비중을 차지한 현안은 ‘대전·충남 행정통합 반대’ 민원이다. 

1분기에만 1468건이 쏟아졌으며, 관련 민원이 최초 발생한 지난해 12월분(631건)까지 더하면 누적 건수는 2,099건에 달한다. 행정구역 개편에 대한 시민들의 우려와 신중한 접근을 요구하는 목소리가 시의회로 집중되고 있는 것으로 풀이된다.

지역별·분야별 특화된 다중 민원도 잇따랐다. 

초고압 송전선로 건설 반대(106건)가 뒤를 이었으며, 죽동2지구 중학교 부지 삭제 결정 재검토 요청(36건) ,둔산엘리프더센트럴 입주예정자 자녀 초등 학군 조정 건의(11건) 등 정주 여건과 교육 환경 개선을 요구하는 목소리가 컸다.

개별 민원 분야에서는 대중교통 관련 불편 사항이 주를 이뤘다. 

대전시민들은 버스 배차 간격 조정 및 노선 증설, 출퇴근 시간대 혼잡도 개선을 요구했으며, 특히 도시철도 2호선(트램) 노선 배정에 대한 높은 관심을 보였다. 

이외에도 공공기관 관리·감독 강화, 편의시설 이용 불편 개선, 교육 재정 지원 및 체육 교사 증원 등 다양한 생활 밀착형 요구가 접수됐다.

상임위원회별 접수 현황을 보면 행정통합 이슈를 담당하는 행정자치위원회가 1,474건으로 가장 많았고, 산업건설위원회(117건), 교육위원회(54건), 복지환경위원회(10건) 순으로 나타났다.

대전시의회 관계자는 “민원 급증은 시정 현안에 대한 시민들의 참여 의지가 그만큼 높아졌다는 방증”이라며 “상시 접수되는 시민들의 소중한 의견을 면밀히 검토해 실질적인 정책 변화로 이어질 수 있도록 의정 활동에 적극 반영하겠다”고 밝혔다.
