세종시선거관리위원회는 12일 세종시장 예비후보인 A씨의 선거 운동을 위해 서명을 받은 자원봉사자 B씨 등 4명을 경찰에 고발했다.

이들은 ‘예비후보자 A 지지선언’이라고 기재된 서명부를 지인 모임 등을 통해 배포하고, 선거구민 383명으로부터 서명을 받은 혐의를 받고 있다.

공직선거법은 선거일 120일 전부터 선거일까지  지지·추천이나 인쇄물을 배부할 수 없고 서명 날인을 받을 수 없다고 규정하고 있다.

시 선관위 관계자는 “특정 후보자에 대한 서명·날인 운동은 선거인의 자유로운 의사형성에 영향을 미칠 우려가 있는 행위”라며 “공정한 선거질서를 훼손하는 행위에 대해서는 엄정하게 대응할 방침”이라고 밝혔다.
