황인호 더불어민주당 대전 동구청장 후보가 동구 지역의 고질적인 교육 인프라 부족 문제를 해결하고 ‘아이 키우기 좋은 교육 도시’를 만들기 위한 구체적인 청사진을 내놨다.

황 후보는 6일 대전시의회 기자실에서 기자회견을 열고, 지역 내 교육 불균형 해소를 위한 ‘맞춤형 교육 인프라 확충’ 공약을 공식 발표했다. 이번 공약의 핵심은 천동·성남 지역의 중·고교 신설과 대동·용운동 일대의 유치원 확충을 통해 교육 환경을 획기적으로 개선하는 데 있다.

우선 황 후보는 내년 개교 예정인 천동중학교에 이어, ‘(가칭)천동고등학교’ 설립을 강력히 추진하겠다고 밝혔다. 

이를 위해 지역 주민 및 학교 설립 추진위원회와 긴밀한 협력 체계를 구축하고, 시 교육청을 상대로 설립 당위성을 적극 설득할 계획이다. 

특히 천동고는 AI 및 디지털 기반의 미래형 학습 시스템을 도입해 학생들의 진로와 적성에 맞춘 특화 교육을 제공하는 모델로 만들겠다는 구상이다.

성남동 지역의 중학교 설립 문제에 대해서는 현실적인 대안을 제시했다. 성남동 일대는 재개발·재건축으로 인한 인구 유입이 활발함에도 불구하고 중학교 부족으로 인해 학생들이 원거리 통학을 감수해야 하는 실정이다. 

이에 대해 황 후보는 최근 성광진 대전시교육감 예비후보와 머리를 맞대고, 기존 부지 확보의 어려움을 극복하기 위해 인근 학교로의 이전·신설 방안을 대안으로 내놓았다. 

황 후보는 “학령인구 감소 추세를 고려할 때, 이전 신설 방식이 행정 절차를 대폭 단축할 수 있는 가장 효율적인 해법”이라고 강조했다.

또한, 젊은 학부모들의 보육 부담을 덜어주기 위해 대동·용운동 지역의 유치원 확충 방안도 마련했다. 초등학교 내 유휴 교실을 활용한 병설유치원 확대 공급을 통해, 공공 보육 인프라를 확충하고 학부모들의 선택권을 넓히겠다는 복안이다.

황인호 후보는 “동구 어디서나 누구나 균등한 교육 기회를 누릴 수 있어야 지역 발전도 가능하다”며, “이번 공약을 통해 지역 간 교육 격차를 해소하고, 학부모와 학생 모두가 안심할 수 있는 안정적인 교육 환경을 반드시 조성하겠다”고 다짐했다.
