이명수 충청남도교육감 예비후보가 위기에 직면한 충남 교육의 정상화를 위해 다른 후보들을 향해 ‘후보 단일화’를 강력히 촉구하고 나섰다.

이 예비후보는 6일 천안시청 브리핑룸에서 긴급 기자회견을 열고, 현재 충남 교육 현장이 겪고 있는 기초학력 저하와 이념 편향 문제를 지적하며 단일화의 필요성을 역설했다. 

그는 “충효의 본고장인 충남의 교육 가치가 심각하게 퇴색됐다”며, “충남 교육의 미래를 위해 뜻을 같이하는 후보들이 힘을 합치는 것은 피할 수 없는 시대적 소명”이라고 밝혔다.

이날 이 후보는 유권자들이 납득하고 승복할 수 있는 ‘3대 공정 단일화 원칙’을 제시하며 단일화 논의를 공식화했다.

우선 각 캠프 실무 책임자들이 모든 쟁점을 투명하게 논의하는 ‘끝장 토론’을 통해 단일화 방식을 신속히 매듭짓자고 제안했다. 

이어 여론 왜곡 논란이 잦은 기계음 방식(ARS)을 배제하고, 과거 정통성을 계승한 ‘외부 전문기관 대면 면접조사’ 방식을 도입해 객관성을 확보하겠다는 구상이다. 

마지막으로 비방이나 세 대결 중심의 구태를 벗어나, 정책과 철학을 공유하는 ‘정책 중심’ 단일화를 통해 도민들의 신뢰를 회복하겠다고 강조했다.

이 후보는 “충남 교육의 잃어버린 12년을 되찾고, 아이들에게 올바른 교육 환경을 물려주기 위해서라면 모든 기득권을 내려놓겠다”며, “도민들이 진정으로 공감할 수 있는 가장 깨끗하고 완벽한 단일화를 이뤄내겠다”고 다짐했다.
