“듣기를 넘어 실천으로 이어지는 소통의 길 제시”

권선택 전 대전광역시장이 2013년 출간한 ‘경청’ 이후 13년 만에 시민 앞에 다시 섰다. 권 전 시장은 오는 15일 금요일 오후 5시 30분, 대전 둔산동 팔레드오페라 4층에서 신간 "다시, 경청: 경청 너머, 더 깊은 소통의 길" 출판기념회를 열고 시민들과 진솔한 대화의 시간을 갖는다.

이번 신간은 지난 1년여간 권 전 시장이 매일 아침 시민들과 나누었던 대화와 현장의 기록을 엮어낸 결과물이다. 

새벽 하천을 지키는 자원봉사자부터 고단한 일상을 견디는 자영업자까지, 대전 곳곳에서 묵묵히 삶을 이어가는 시민들의 이야기가 사계절의 풍경과 함께 책 속에 오롯이 담겼다.

권 전 시장은 이번 책을 통해 “경청은 소통의 출발점이며, 실천은 그 과정을 완성하는 마침표”라는 확고한 철학을 제시했다. 단순히 시민의 목소리를 듣는 것에 그치지 않고, 그 요구가 실질적인 정책과 변화로 이어져야 한다는 ‘책임 있는 소통’을 강조한 것이다.

책의 내용 또한 깊이를 더했다. 대전·충남 통합, 대전교도소 이전, 도시철도 2호선 트램 등 지역의 해묵은 핵심 현안들에 대해 현장의 목소리를 반영한 정책적 대안을 진지하게 모색했다. 

더불어 권흥주 대표, 박재홍 시인, 김정주 대표, 송영길 전 국회의원 등 사회 각계 인사들과의 심도 깊은 대담을 수록해 책이 담고 있는 메시지의 폭을 넓혔다.

권 전 시장은 “듣기 좋은 말만 주고받는 피상적인 소통을 넘어, 시민의 삶에 구체적인 변화를 만드는 ‘응답하는 경청’이 절실하다”며, “이번 출판기념회가 대전의 현재를 직시하고 미래 전략을 함께 고민하는 소중한 계기가 되길 바란다”고 소회를 밝혔다.

일방적인 도서 소개 형식을 탈피해 기획된 이번 출판기념회는 대전의 현안을 시민들과 함께 논의하고 해결책을 모색하는 ‘열린 토론’의 장이 될 전망이다. 

지역의 위기를 새로운 기회로 전환하기 위한 권 전 시장의 고민과 시민들의 목소리가 한자리에 모일 예정이다.
