‘치유관광산업 육성에 관한 법률(이하 치유관광법)’이 본격 시행됨에 따라, 산업계를 대변하고 정책 파트너 역할을 수행할 민간 대응 기구 설립이 가시화됐다.

5월 5일 국립공주대학교 인문사회대학 세미나실에서 학계와 산업계, 관련 단체 전문가 30여 명이 참석한 가운데 (가칭)한국치유관광협회 창립 추진위원회 발족 모임이 열렸다. 이날 위원회는 로드맵 확정과 함께 공동선언문을 채택하고, 오는 9~10월 중 창립총회를 개최하기로 공식 의결했다.

이번 협회 설립은 지난 4월 9일부터 시행된 치유관광법에 대응하기 위한 첫 민간 차원의 움직임이다. 그동안 웰니스, 의료관광, 산림·해양 치유, 한방, 온천 등 각 분야로 흩어져 있던 관련 단체들을 하나의 플랫폼으로 결집해 산업의 대표성과 대정부 협상력을 높이겠다는 취지다.

이용근 국립공주대 스마트의료웰니스관광 대학원 교수는 기조 발표를 통해 법적 근거 마련에 따른 민간 기구의 필요성을 역설했다. 이어 김성원 추진위원장은 협회의 조직 구조와 ‘치유관광 대국 프로젝트’, 관련 전문 서적 출판 계획 등 구체적인 실행 방안을 발표했다.

특히 이번 추진위 출범은 6월 3일 지방선거와 맞물려 비상한 관심을 끌고 있다. 선거 이후 출범할 민선 자치단체들이 치유관광을 지역 경제 활성화의 핵심 동력으로 삼을 경우, 협회가 정책 수립과 집행의 핵심 민간 파트너로 기능할 것이라는 관측이다.

참석자들은 “정부의 치유관광 기본계획 수립 과정에 산업계의 목소리를 적극 반영하고, 재정 지원 혜택을 확보하기 위해서는 지체 없는 협회 창립이 시급하다”는 데 의견을 같이했다.

이날 행사에서는 대한민국을 세계 최고 수준의 치유관광 대국으로 도약시키기 위한 ‘K-메디웰(K-MediWell) 글로컬 프로젝트’ 추진도 결의됐다. 

국립공주대 스마트의료웰니스관광 대학원이 공동 주관한 이번 추진위는 충청권의 풍부한 치유 자원과 연계한 관광 모델 개발 가능성을 확인하며 실질적인 비즈니스 로드맵을 점검했다.

김성원 추진위원장은 ‘공동선언문’ 낭독을 통해 “단순한 이익단체를 넘어 대한민국 치유관광의 미래를 설계하는 실천적 조직이 될 것”이라고 강조했다.

한편, 추진위원회는 주무 부처인 문화체육관광부와의 협의를 거쳐 오는 9~10월 창립총회에서 정관 제정, 임원 선출, 사업계획 확정 등 모든 설립 절차를 마무리할 예정이다.

Meanwhile, following consultations with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the supervising ministry, the steering committee plans to complete all establishment procedures—including the enactment of articles of association, the election of officers, and the finalization of business plans—at the inaugural general meeting scheduled for this coming September or October.
