천안시가 제104회 어린이날을 맞아 기존의 권위주의적 관행을 과감히 깨뜨리고, ‘아동 중심’의 축제 모델을 선보여 화제다.

시는 5일 천안시민체육공원에서 ‘오늘의 놀이가, 내일의 꿈으로’를 주제로 기념행사를 개최했다. 

이날 가장 눈에 띈 변화는 행사장 배치였다. 통상 무대 정면 상석을 차지하던 내빈석을 측면으로 옮기고, 그 자리에 어린이와 가족들을 우선 배치한 것. 

내빈들이 시민들 사이로 스며들어 자연스럽게 소통하는 모습은 진정한 의미의 ‘화합의 장’을 연출했다는 평이다.

축제는 천안소년소녀합창단의 맑은 음성으로 시작해 아동권리헌장 낭독과 104 퍼포먼스단의 화려한 플래시몹으로 열기를 더했다. 

특히 아동들이 직접 자신의 고민을 이야기하는 ‘보이는 라디오’와 재능을 뽐내는 ‘꿈☆끼 페스티벌’ 등 아이들이 무대 위에서 주인공 역할을 수행하는 주도형 프로그램이 배치되어 행사의 의미를 더했다.

현장에는 고고다이노 뮤지컬, 마술·버블쇼를 비롯해 32개의 다채로운 체험 부스와 에어바운스 놀이터가 마련되어 아이들에게 오감 만족의 시간을 선사했다. 

시는 260명의 안전 인력을 배치해 대규모 인파 속에서도 무사고 축제를 이끌어냈다.

김석필 천안시장 권한대행 부시장은 관행적 운영에서 벗어나 아동이 존중받는 축제 문화를 정착시키는 전환점이 됐다며, 아이들이 주인공으로 성장할 수 있는 아동 친화 도시 천안을 만들어가겠다고 밝혔다.

On the 5th, the city held a commemorative event at Cheonan Citizens' Sports Park under the theme, "Today's Play, Tomorrow's Dreams."

The most notable change of the day was the layout of the venue. The VIP seats, which typically occupy the prime spots at the front of the stage, were moved to the sides, and children and families were given priority seating in their place.

The sight of VIPs blending in among the citizens and interacting naturally was praised as creating a "venue of harmony" in the truest sense.

The festival began with the clear voices of the Cheonan Boys and Girls Choir, and heated up with the reading of the Charter of Children's Rights and a spectacular flash mob by the 104 Performance Group. In particular, the event was enhanced by child-led programs where children took on the lead roles on stage, such as "Visible Radio," where they shared their personal concerns, and the "Dream☆Talent Festival," where they showcased their talents.

Kim Seok-pil, Acting Vice Mayor of Cheonan, stated that this marked a turning point in establishing a festival culture where children are respected, moving away from conventional operations. He further pledged to build a child-friendly city of Cheonan where children can grow into the protagonists.
