대덕경찰서가 제104회 어린이날을 맞아 지역 아동들의 안전을 지키는 ‘파수꾼’으로 나섰다. 

대덕경찰서는 5일 한남대학교 56주년기념관에서 열린 어린이날 대축제 ‘덕구랑 놀자!’ 행사장에서 대전자치경찰위원회와 협업하여 실질적인 범죄 예방 활동을 펼쳤다고 밝혔다.

이날 경찰은 축제 분위기 속에서도 발생할 수 있는 아동 실종 사고에 선제적으로 대응하기 위해 ‘실종 예방 사전등록’ 부스를 운영했다.

‘실종 예방 사전등록’은 18세 미만 아동이나 치매 환자 등을 대상으로 지문, 사진, 보호자 인적 사항을 경찰청 프로파일링 시스템에 미리 등록해두는 제도다. 

실종 사고가 발생했을 때 등록된 정보를 바탕으로 대상자를 신속하게 발견할 수 있어 학부모들 사이에서 필수적인 안전장치로 꼽힌다.

특히 경찰은 자칫 딱딱할 수 있는 홍보 활동에 ‘추억의 뽑기 이벤트’를 접목하는 재치를 발휘했다. 

부모님 손을 잡고 행사장을 찾은 아이들은 즐겁게 이벤트에 참여하고, 그 사이 자연스럽게 지문 등록이 이뤄지면서 가족 단위 방문객들로부터 큰 박수를 받았다.

경찰은 이날 아동 안전뿐만 아니라 최근 사회적 문제로 급부상한 청소년 사이버 범죄 예방에도 힘을 쏟았다. 

현장에서는 사이버도박 자진신고 안내와 함께 딥페이크(AI 기반 합성) 불법 촬영물 등 신종 범죄의 위험성을 알리는 홍보 전단을 배포했다. 

이는 스마트폰 사용 연령이 낮아짐에 따라 어린이와 청소년들이 잠재적 범죄 피해자가 되지 않도록 조기에 경각심을 심어주기 위한 조치다.

이상근 대덕경찰서장은 학교폭력과 아동학대, 가정폭력으로부터 우리 아이들을 보호하겠다며, 어린이들을 위한 사회적 안전망을 구축하는 데 최선을 다하겠다고 강조했다.
