전세버스를 이용하는 대전 시민들의 발걸음이 한층 가벼워질 전망이다. 

대전광역시는 전세버스 이용객의 안전을 최우선으로 확보하기 위해 실시한 ‘2026년 전세버스 안전관리 일제 점검’ 결과, 전반적인 차량 관리 수준이 전년보다 대폭 개선된 것으로 확인됐다고 밝혔다.

이번 점검은 지난 3월 대전시와 한국교통안전공단, 전세버스운송사업조합이 합동 점검반을 구성해 대전시에 등록된 전세버스 33개 업체, 총 725대를 대상으로 진행됐다.

점검 결과에서 가장 고무적인 대목은 ‘재검사율’의 하락이다. 

올해 점검 대상 차량 중 재검사 통보를 받은 비율은 14.5%로, 지난해 기록했던 20.3%와 비교해 약 5.8%p 감소했다. 

이는 전세버스 운송사업자들이 시민 안전을 위해 차량 정비 및 관리에 예년보다 성실히 임했음을 보여주는 지표로 풀이된다.

주요 지적 사항은 총 145건이 집계됐다. 구체적으로는 '영상기록장치 설치 및 작동 불량(27건), 소화기 및 비상망치 미비치(22건), 차량 등화장치 불량(21건), 상호 및 전세 문구 미표기(17건)' 순으로 나타났다. 

대형 사고 예방의 핵심인 운행기록계와 차로이탈방지장치 불량은 3건에 그쳐 핵심 안전 장비에 대한 관리는 비교적 양호한 것으로 분석됐다.

대전시는 이번 점검에서 적발된 차량 중 39대(47건)에 대해 현장에서 즉시 시정 조치를 완료했으며, 26대(36건)는 보완 후 재검사를 통해 합격을 확인했다.

문제는 여전히 남아있는 사각지대다. 시는 점검을 회피한 미수검 차량 14대와 지적 사항을 조치하지 않은 42대(62건)에 대해 재검사 및 사업개선명령을 내렸다. 

만약 이를 기한 내에 이행하지 않을 경우, 과징금 부과나 사업 일부 정지 등 강력한 행정처분을 통해 ‘안전은 타협할 수 없는 가치’임을 명확히 할 방침이다.

This inspection was conducted last March by a joint inspection team formed by Daejeon City, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and the Charter Bus Operators Association, targeting a total of 725 vehicles from 33 companies registered in Daejeon.

The most encouraging aspect of the inspection results is the decline in the ‘re-inspection rate.’

The percentage of vehicles notified for re-inspection among those inspected this year was 14.5%, a decrease of approximately 5.8%p compared to the 20.3% recorded last year. If these orders are not complied with within the deadline, the city plans to clearly demonstrate that "safety is a non-negotiable value" through strong administrative measures, such as the imposition of fines or partial suspension of operations.
