세종특별자치시가 지난 1일 발생한 조치원읍 아파트 화재 사고와 관련해 전 직원을 긴급 소집했다. 

시와 소방본부에 따르면, 1일 오후 8시 2분경 조치원읍의 한 아파트 단지 지하 전기실에서 화재가 발생했다. 

불은 화재 발생 1시간 36분 만인 오후 9시 38분경 완전히 진화됐으며, 다행히 인명 피해는 발생하지 않은 것으로 확인됐다.

하지만 이번 화재로 인해 아파트 전체 1,429세대에 전력을 공급하는 지하 전기실 케이블이 소실되면서 단지 전체에 정전이 발생했다. 

특히 설비 피해가 커 전력 복구에는 상당한 시일이 걸릴 것으로 전망된다.

세종시는 사고 직후 즉각 재난안전대책본부를 가동하고, 현장에 사고수습본부를 설치해 상황 관리와 주민 지원을 시작했다. 

김하균 시장 권한대행은 사고 현장을 직접 방문해 주민들의 안전 확보와 생활 불편 해소를 최우선 과제로 삼을 것을 강력히 주문했다.

시는 갑작스러운 정전으로 추위와 불편에 노출된 주민들을 위해 조치원읍 행복누림터와 마을회관, 경로당 등에 임시 숙소를 마련하고 이동을 도왔다. 

또한 양초, 모포 등 구호 물품을 긴급 배부하며 밤샘 지원을 이어갔다.

나아가 정전과 함께 수도 공급까지 끊기면서 발생한 주민 불편을 줄이기 위해 이동식 화장실을 단지 곳곳에 설치하고, 인근 차량등록사업소 등 공공시설 화장실을 24시간 개방했다. 

시는 주민 식수용 생수 3,300개를 긴급 지원하는 한편, 수도 복구 작업을 서둘러 2일 오후까지는 용수 공급을 재개한다는 방침이다.

세종시는 한국전력공사 등 유관기관과 긴밀히 협력해 전력 시설 복구에 총력을 기울이는 동시에, 소방 당국과 함께 정확한 화재 원인 규명을 위한 정밀 조사에 박차를 가할 예정이다.
