제9회 전국동시지방선거를 한 달여 앞두고 대전광역시선거관리위원회(이하 대전선관위)가 선거 질서를 어지럽히는 중대 범죄에 대해 강력한 칼을 빼 들었다.

대전선관위는 교육감 선거 입후보예정자의 저서를 무상으로 배부하거나 허위 지지 사실을 유포한 혐의 등으로 관계자 7명을 검찰과 경찰에 각각 고발했다고 29일 밝혔다.

우선 대전선관위는 교육감 선거 입후보예정자 A씨의 출판기념회에서 참석자들에게 저서를 무상으로 제공한 혐의로 자원봉사자 B·C씨를 포함해 총 6명을 대전지방검찰청에 고발했다.

조사 결과, 자원봉사자들은 현장 판매원들과 공모하여 참석자 26명에게 총 27권(시가 약 54만 원 상당)의 저서를 대가 없이 나누어준 혐의를 받고 있다. 

'공직선거법' 제115조는 누구든지 선거와 관련해 후보자를 위한 기부행위를 할 수 없도록 엄격히 금지하고 있으며, 이를 위반할 경우 5년 이하의 징역 또는 1천만 원 이하의 벌금에 처해질 수 있다.

같은 날 대전경찰청에는 교육감 예비후보자 H씨의 자원봉사자 I씨에 대한 고발장이 접수됐다. I씨는 H씨를 당선시킬 목적으로 특정 인물들이 H씨를 지지하고 있다는 내용의 허위 자료를 작성, 일반인 등 300여 명에게 이메일로 대량 발송한 혐의를 받는다.
