충남 서산시의회가 9일 ‘대산읍 일자리연계형 지원주택사업 정상 추진 촉구 결의문’을 채택하고, 한국토지주택공사(LH)의 사업 중단 방침 철회를 강력히 요구했다.

시의회는 결의문을 통해 “국가 경제의 버팀목인 대산석유화학단지 노동자들이 열악한 주거 환경 속에 내몰리고 있다”며 “노동자의 주거 복지를 외면한 LH의 결정은 공기업으로서의 책무를 망각한 행정”이라고 비판했다.

대산읍 일자리연계형 지원주택사업은 서산시가 2022년 국토교통부와 LH의 협력을 통해 290세대 건립을 확정한 사업으로, 대산공단 노동자의 주거 안정과 지역 정주 여건 개선을 목표로 추진돼왔다. 

그러나 최근 LH가 “인근 당진 석문국가산단의 높은 공실률”을 이유로 사업 참여가 어렵다는 입장을 밝히면서 추진이 사실상 중단된 상태다.

또한 “LH가 한편으로는 석문산단 내 신규 1,100세대 주택을 추가로 건설하면서, 서산의 290세대 사업은 수익성 문제로 중단한다는 것은 명백한 자기모순”이라며 “공기업이 스스로의 경영 실패를 덮기 위해 서산시민을 희생양으로 삼고 있다”고 주장했다.

시의회는 이어 “LH는 석문산단의 공실 문제를 이유로 한 서산 대산읍 지원주택사업 중단 시도를 즉각 철회할 것.”과 “국토교통부와 LH는 이미 수요가 입증되고 행정 절차가 완료된 290세대 건립 사업을 당초 계획대로 조속히 착수할 것.” 등 두 가지 요구사항을 제시했다.
