정준영 계룡시 체육회장이 오는 6월 3일 실시되는 지방선거에서 계룡시장 출마를 공식 선언했다.

정 회장은 8일 계룡문화예술의전당에서 기자회견을 열고 “계룡을 다시 정의롭게 세우고 사회적 신뢰를 회복해 시민이 시정을 움직이는 도시를 만들겠다”며 출마 의지를 밝혔다.

그는 “시민의 상식과 정의를 기준으로 시민이 진정한 주인이 되는 시정을 반드시 구현하겠다”며 “내란극복과 이재명정부의 성공에도 기여하겠다”고 강조했다.

정준영 회장은 이날 선언에서 현 시정을 강하게 비판하며 “지난 3년간의 시정은 시민의 기대에 미치지 못했고, 인구 증가와 지역 성장의 중요한 기회를 놓쳤다”고 평가했다. 

이어 “지역경제 침체, 행정 혼선, 예산 낭비, 책임행정의 실종이 반복됐다”며 “보여주기식 축제와 전시성 사업이 실속 없이 예산만 낭비했고, 이케아 부지는 장기간 방치됐다”고 지적했다.

그는 “상인회장과 계룡시 체육회장으로 활동하며 시민과 가장 가까운 현장에서 문제를 함께 해결해 왔다”며 “이 현장 경험과 실천력을 바탕으로 계룡 행정을 근본적으로 바꾸겠다”고 약속했다.

또 “금암·두마·신도안·엄사 등 계룡의 모든 지역 목소리를 같은 무게로 듣는 시정을 펼치겠다”며 지역 균형 발전 의지를 밝혔다.

아울러 정 회장은 출마와 함께 계룡의 성장과 변화를 위한 7대 핵심 공약을 제시했다. 그는 “저는 시민 곁을 지키며 정직하게 살아온 사람”이라며 “그 정직함과 실천의 힘으로 기존 정치가 만들지 못한 변화, ‘다른 길’을 반드시 만들어가겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 정 회장은 출마 선언에 앞서 계룡시 충령탑을 참배하며 각오를 다졌고, 첫 공식 일정으로 엄사면 성원아파트 경로당을 방문해 지역 원로들과 인사를 나누며 ‘섬김의 정치’를 다짐했다.
