정의당, 민주당의 대전·충남 통합 행보 강도 높게 비판 

“6개월 전엔 ‘졸속’이라더니 이제는 ‘선봉장’… 명백한 형용모순”

시민 70% 원하는 주민투표 회피는 ‘법 기술자적 꼼수’

 

정의당 대전시당이 대전·충남 행정통합 논의와 관련해 더불어민주당 박정현 대전시당위원장의 급격한 입장 선회를 ‘기만적 행태’로 규정하며 강력한 비판의 목소리를 냈다.

 

정의당 대전시당은 8일 논평을 통해 박정현 위원장이 지난 7일 ‘대전·충남 통합 및 충청발전특위’를 출범시키며 보여준 행보를 정면으로 겨냥했다. 

 

정의당은 “박 위원장은 불과 반년 전인 지난해 7월만 해도 이장우 시장의 통합 추진을 ‘소통 없는 졸속이자 지방선거용’이라며 맹비난했던 인물”이라고 상기시켰다.

 

이어 “행정 연계가 어렵고 자치분권을 약화시킨다던 그가 대통령 언급 이후 돌연 ‘통합의 선봉장’을 자처하고 있다”며, 6월 지방선거 전 통합 시장을 선출하겠다는 박 위원장의 주장은 본인이 비판했던 ‘정치 이벤트’를 스스로 자행하는 것이라고 꼬집었다.

 

박범계 의원이 이번 통합을 ‘20년 전 노무현 정부부터 이어온 정책’이라며 정당성을 부여한 것에 대해서도 날 선 비판이 이어졌다. 

 

정의당은 “과거의 추상적 담론을 근거로 단 몇 달 만에 행정구역을 합치겠다는 졸속 절차에 면죄부를 주는 것은 명백한 궤변이자 노무현 정신에 대한 오독”이라고 질타했다.

 

특히 주민투표에 대한 민주당의 태도를 ‘법 기술자적 꼼수’라고 규정했다. 

 

대전시민 10명 중 7명이 주민투표를 원하고 있음에도 박 위원장이 “현행법상 필수적이지 않다”며 법망 뒤로 숨고 있다는 지적이다. 

 

정의당은 “시민의 직접 결정권은 투표율 저조를 핑계로 거부하면서, 고작 ‘타운홀 미팅’이라는 요식행위로 대체하겠다는 것은 성의 없는 궤변에 불과하다”고 일침을 가했다.

 

정의당은 민주당이 본인들이 비판했던 국민의힘 발의 법안을 토대로 진행된 ‘의회 의견 청취’를 그대로 준용하겠다는 것은 논리적 모순이자 ‘절차적 무임승차’라고 정의했다.

 

정의당 대전시당 조선기 위원장은 “김대중 대통령이 단식으로 지켜낸 지방자치를 2026년의 민주당이 대통령의 한 마디에 무력화하려 한다”며 “지방선거 전 통합 시장을 뽑겠다는 무리한 탐욕을 버리고, 시·도민의 의견을 충분히 듣는 숙의 과정을 거쳐 논의를 원점에서 재검토해야 한다”고 촉구했다.

 

이어 “민주당이 ‘정쟁’이라는 프레임 뒤에 숨어 시·도민의 권리를 빼앗으려 한다면, 결국 준엄한 심판을 면치 못할 것”이라고 강력히 경고했다.

 

행정통합은 백년대계다. 

 

그러나 현재 대전의 여야는 서로의 논리적 모순을 공격하면서도 정작 주인인 시민의 직접 참여(주민투표)에는 소극적인 모습이다. “주민은 동원의 대상이 아니라 결정의 주체”라는 정의당의 지적은, 속도전에 매몰된 지역 정치권이 가장 뼈아프게 새겨야 할 대목으로 보인다.
