세종시 연기면 출신의 김수현 더민주세종혁신회의 상임대표가 7일 '세종사람 김수현' 출판기념회를 열고, 민주주의와 행정수도 완성을 향한 30여 년간의 발자취를 시민들과 공유했다. 

‘시민의 시대, 시민 김수현’ 행사 주제로 개최된 이날 행사는 안진걸 민생경제연구소장의 사회로 진행됐으며, 배우 이기영이 이야기 손님으로, 정두홍 무술감독이 특별 게스트로 자리했다. 

강준현·김종민 국회의원, 이광희 더민주전국혁신회의 공동상임대표, 이강진 세종갑 지역위원장, 박정현 부여군수, 이춘희 전 세종시장 등 다양한 정치권·시민사회 인사가 참석해 눈길을 끌었다.

우원식 국회의장과 황명선 더불어민주당 최고위원, 조승래 사무총장 등 10여 명의 주요 인사들도 영상 메시지를 통해 책 출간을 축하했다.

행사는 청소년 댄스팀의 식전공연으로 문을 열었다. 이어 김 대표의 부친 김길중 시인의 시 낭독, 송헌 하광태 선생의 인장 전달식, 손피켓 퍼포먼스와 북토크가 진행되며 ‘현장 민주주의’의 의미를 되새겼다.

인사말에서 김수현 대표는 “12.3 내란 사태를 지켜보며 민주주의가 짓밟히는 현실에 분노했고, 공직을 내려놓고 다시 시민의 현장으로 돌아왔다”며 이번 저서가 “그 결단의 산물”이라고 밝혔다.

북토크에서 그는 “5·18 진실을 알게 된 이후 민주주의를 위한 길에 들어섰다”며 “세종시 출범 이후 국회 세종의사당 건립과 대통령 세종집무실 설치 등 행정수도 완성의 최전선에서 뛰어왔다”고 소회를 전했다.

김수현 대표는 충남대 총학생회장으로 시작해 대전참여자치시민연대와 세종참여자치시민연대 등에서 활동하며 줄곧 자치·분권 운동을 이끌어왔다. 

현재는 더민주세종혁신회의 상임대표이자 더불어민주당 원내대표 특보로서 당내 혁신과 당원주권 실현을 위한 활동에 집중하고 있다.

이번 출판기념회는 단순한 저서 발표를 넘어, 한 세대 시민운동가의 삶을 통해 세종의 민주주의와 행정수도 완성의 여정을 다시 돌아보는 자리가 됐다는 평가다.

In his opening remarks, Representative Kim Soo-hyun stated, "Witnessing the December 3rd civil war, I was enraged by the trampling of democracy. I resigned from public office and returned to the field as a citizen." He added that this book was "the product of that decision."

During the book talk, he shared, "After learning the truth about the May 18th Democratization Movement, I embarked on the path to democracy. Since the launch of Sejong City, I have been at the forefront of the completion of the administrative capital, including the construction of the National Assembly Building in Sejong and the establishment of the Presidential Office in Sejong."

Kim Soo-hyun, who began his career as the student body president at Chungnam National University, has been a leading figure in the autonomy and decentralization movement, working with organizations such as the Daejeon Citizens' Coalition for Participatory Autonomy and the Sejong Citizens' Coalition for Participatory Autonomy.

Currently, as the standing representative of the Democratic Party of Korea Sejong Innovation Conference and a special advisor to the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, he focuses on promoting internal party innovation and realizing member sovereignty.

This book launch event is seen as more than just a book launch; it serves as an opportunity to reflect on the journey of Sejong's democracy and the completion of its administrative capital through the lives of a generation of civic activists.
