세종특별자치시가 5일부터 지역 내 8,171농가를 대상으로 총 103억 1,600만 원 규모의 2025년도 기본형 공익직접지불금을 순차적으로 지급한다.

공익직불금은 농업·농촌의 공익적 가치를 높이고, 농업인의 안정적인 소득 기반을 보장하기 위한 제도로, 일정 요건을 충족하고 의무사항을 이행한 농업인에게 매년 지원된다.

이번 지급은 올해 초부터 진행된 신청·심사 절차를 거쳐 확정된 8,171명의 농업인이 대상이다. 

세종시는 올해 초 경북·경남 지역 대규모 산불 피해 복구와 공익직불법 개정 반영 등의 사유로 신청 기간을 기존보다 한 달 연장해 5월 말까지 접수를 받았다. 이후 농지 형상 유지, 농약 안전기준 준수, 의무교육 이수 여부 등에 대한 현장 확인을 마쳤다.

올해 공익직불금 규모는 지난해 지급액 97억 7,700만 원보다 약 5억 4,000만 원 증가했다. 이는 면적직불금 단가가 약 5% 인상된 데 따른 것이다.

우선 0.5㏊ 이하의 소규모 농가 2,914곳에는 총 37억 8,800만 원의 소농직불금이 지급된다. 이어 5,257농가에는 경작 면적과 지역 여건에 따라 65억 2,900만 원의 면적직불금이 차등 지원된다.

올해는 개정된 공익직불법이 처음 적용돼, 9월 30일 이전까지 보상을 받지 않은 채 연서면 국가산업단지 편입 농지에서 경작 중인 농업인 200여 명도 지원 대상에 포함됐다.
