충남도가 금산의 미래 발전 축으로 ‘친환경 양수발전소’ 건립을 본격 추진한다.

김태흠 충남도지사는 4일 민선 8기 4년 차 시군방문 14번째 일정으로 금산군을 찾아 지역 현안을 점검하고 도민들과 소통의 시간을 가졌다. 

김 지사는 이날 금산 다락원 대공연장에서 열린 도민과의 대화에서 금산의 지속 가능한 발전 전략을 설명하고, 주요 현안 사업의 차질 없는 추진을 약속했다.

김 지사는 “양수발전소 건립을 중심으로 탄소중립경제 실현에 앞장서겠다”며 “의료·복지·정주 여건을 함께 강화해 금산이 에너지 혁신 도시로 도약하도록 지원하겠다”고 밝혔다.

금산 양수발전소는 지난해 산업통상자원부의 ‘신규 양수발전 공모’에서 예비 타당성 조사 대상지로 선정된 사업으로, 부리면 어재리 일원 약 125만㎡ 부지에 2037년까지 총 1조 6500억 원을 투입해 500㎿ 규모로 건설될 예정이다. 사업 주체는 한국남동발전이며, 사업이 완료되면 전력 수급 안정과 지역 일자리 창출, 친환경 에너지 전환 촉진 등 다방면의 효과가 기대된다.

이날 도민과의 대화에서는 양수발전소 외에도 금산군의 대표 현안으로 금산군 보건소 신축 이전, 아토피 치유 특화마을 조성, 충남형 농촌리브투게더(남일지구) 건설 추진 등이 함께 소개됐다.
