대전 중구가 국가유산청이 주관한 ‘2026년 우리고장 국가유산 활용사업’ 공모에서 두 개 분야에 선정되는 성과를 거뒀다.

중구에 따르면 지난 7월 진행된 이번 공모에서 전국적으로 ‘생생 국가유산’ 236건 중 135건, ‘국가유산 야행’ 77건 중 55건이 각각 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다. 

중구는 이 가운데 ‘생생 국가유산’ 부문 신규사업으로 '단재의 길, 그 위에서다', ‘국가유산 야행’ 부문에서는 '중구 원도심 야행'이 이름을 올리며 두 부문 동시 선정되는 쾌거를 이뤘다.

'단재의 길, 그 위에서다'는 단재 신채호 선생의 생가지에서 관객참여형 연극을 펼쳐 단재의 삶과 사상을 공유하고, 무수동 지역에서 자연·문화유산 보존 활동을 체험할 수 있는 프로그램이다. 지역민과 방문객이 함께 호흡하며 잠들어 있던 국가유산의 의미와 가치를 재발견한다는 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.

또 다른 선정사업인 '중구 원도심 야행'은 옛 충남도청 일대를 거점으로 선화동·대흥동을 아우르는 근대 역사 투어, 심야 책방 프로그램, 골목 화방에서 열리는 소규모 미술전 등 다채로운 야간 프로그램으로 구성됐다. 

특히 지역 상인과 창작자가 협력해 굿즈를 개발·판매하는 등 문화와 경제를 결합한 활성화 모델을 제시한 것이 특징이다.

중구는 이번 성과를 계기로 단재 신채호 선생 생가지, 유회당, 옛 충남도청 등 지역의 역사문화자원을 적극 활용해 대전 근현대사의 숨결과 역사적 인물들의 발자취를 전국에 알리는 다양한 사업을 추진할 계획이다.

Daejeon Jung-gu Selected in Two Categories for National Heritage Utilization Projects

Daejeon Jung-gu has been selected in two categories for the "2026 Our Hometown National Heritage Utilization Projects," hosted by the National Heritage Administration.

According to Jung-gu, 135 of 236 "Living National Heritage" projects and 55 of 77 "National Heritage Night Tours" projects were selected nationwide in the July competition.

Jung-gu achieved the remarkable feat of being selected in both categories: "Danjae's Path, On It" was selected as a new project in the "Living National Heritage" category, and "Jung-gu Downtown Night Tour" was selected in the "National Heritage Night Tour" category.

"Danjae's Path, On It" is a program that presents an audience-participatory play at the birthplace of Danjae Shin Chae-ho, sharing his life and philosophy while experiencing the natural and cultural heritage preservation activities in the Musu-dong area. It was highly praised for allowing local residents and visitors to rediscover the meaning and value of a dormant national heritage site, all while breathing together.

Another selected project, the "Jung-gu Downtown Night Tour," featured diverse nighttime programs, including a modern history tour of Seonhwa-dong and Daeheung-dong, centered around the former South Chungcheong Provincial Office area, a late-night bookstore program, and small-scale art exhibitions held in alleyway art studios.

Notably, it presented a revitalization model that combines culture and the economy, with local merchants and creators collaborating to develop and sell merchandise.

Building on this achievement, Jung-gu plans to actively utilize local historical and cultural resources, such as the birthplace of Danjae Shin Chae-ho, Yuhoe Hall, and the former South Chungcheong Provincial Office, to promote various projects nationwide to showcase the breathtaking history of Daejeon and the footsteps of its historical figures.
