허훈걸 주무관 선택에 동료 직원들 놀라움과 존경 표해

대전시의회에서 근무 중인 한 공직자가 신혼여행을 뒤로 미루고 임시회 업무에 매진해 주위를 감동시키고 있다.

대전시의회 복지환경위원회 소속 허훈걸 주무관(33)은 지난 6일(토) 결혼식을 올린 직후 예정된 신혼여행 대신 8일(월) 곧바로 출근해 제290회 임시회 지원 업무에 돌입했다. 

허 주무관은 임시회가 끝나는 오는 18일까지 의정 활동을 보좌한 뒤, 19일에 신혼여행을 떠날 계획이다.

동료들과 의원들은 그의 선택에 놀라움과 존경을 표했다. 

한 의원은 “토요일에 결혼한 직원이 월요일 아침에 출근했을 때 깜짝 놀랐다”며 “책임감 있는 모습에 깊은 인상을 받았다”고 말했다. 또 다른 공무원은 “수십 년 근무하면서 이런 사례는 처음 본다”며 “허 주무관의 결정을 존중하는 분위기가 형성됐다”고 전했다.

허 주무관은 자신의 선택을 담담히 밝혔다. 

그는 “회기 기간 중 자리를 비우는 건 옳지 않다고 생각했다”며 “의원님들을 보좌하는 것이 제 역할인 만큼 본분을 다하고 나서 떠나는 편이 제 마음도 편하다”고 설명했다.

조원휘 대전시의회 의장도 “신혼여행보다 임시회 업무를 우선한 직원이 있다는 사실에 크게 놀랐다”며 “책임감과 올바른 가치관을 갖춘 뛰어난 인재”라고 치켜세웠다.
