대전맹학교가 유치원부터 전공과정에 이르는 시각장애 학생과 교직원의 안전을 위해 실질적인 변화에 나선다.

대전광역시교육청은 지난 7월 말 실시한 선제적 현장 안전 점검 결과를 바탕으로, 대전맹학교의 노후 안전시설 보강을 위해 총 2,600만 원의 특별 예산을 편성했다고 밝혔다.

설동호 대전시교육감은 “장애 학생의 교육권 보장을 위해서는 무엇보다 안전한 교육 환경이 우선되어야 한다”며, 어려운 재정 여건 속에서도 직접 예산 지원을 결정한 배경을 설명했다.
