대전시가 로봇 전략산업화를 선언한 지 1년 만에 규제 완화, 예산 확보, 인프라 구축이라는 3박자를 갖춘 ‘딥테크 로봇 생태계’ 조성에 박차를 가하고 있다고 6일 밝혔다. 

대전시는 과학기술정보통신부가 주관한 ‘2025년 딥테크 스케일업 밸리 육성사업’ 공모에 최종 선정돼 국비 105억 원을 포함해 총 136억 5,000만 원의 사업비를 확보한 데 이어, 로봇드론지원센터 건립을 통해 실질적인 산업기반 마련에 나서고 있다.

이번 정부 공모사업은 오는 2028년까지 3년 6개월간 대덕연구개발특구를 중심으로 추진되며, 한국과학기술원(KAIST)을 주관기관으로 대전테크노파크, 엔젤로보틱스, GTLAB, KAIST Holdings, 대전창조경제혁신센터 등 산·학·연 협력체로 구성된 컨소시엄이 참여해 인간친화형 로봇의 감성·감각·인지 기술 개발부터 사업화, 스케일업 전 과정에 걸친 지원체계 구축에 나선다.

대전시는 지난해 7월 로봇산업을 6대 전략산업(ABCDQR) 중 하나로 지정하고, 올해 3월에는 「대전광역시 지능형 로봇산업 육성 및 지원조례」를 제정해 법적·제도적 기반을 다졌다. 조례는 로봇산업 육성 종합계획 수립, 정책협의회 설치, 사업비 지원과 포상 등 행정·재정 지원을 폭넓게 담아 체계적인 산업 육성을 뒷받침한다.

더불어 4월에는 전문가 TF를 중심으로 ‘로봇산업 5개년 종합계획’을 수립, ‘차세대 로봇 딥테크 허브 선도 도시 대전’을 비전으로 차별화된 클러스터 조성 ,기술개발 가속화 ,상생 생태계 구축 ,상용화 및 산업화 확산 등 4대 전략 밑에 16개 중점과제를 담아 전방위적 로봇산업 경쟁력 강화를 도모하고 있다.

시비 346억 원을 투입해 조성 중인 대덕구 문평동의 ‘로봇·드론지원센터’는 입주공간과 공유공장, 실내 드론 비행장, 전시홍보관 등 다양한 시설을 갖추게 되며, 향후 ‘로봇드론 실증연구센터’로 확대해 연구·실증 기능을 한층 강화할 계획이다.

대전시 관계자는 “지난 1년간 정책적 기반 구축과 국비 확보, 인프라 조성을 통해 로봇 딥테크 중심도시로 도약할 확고한 토대를 마련했다”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 혁신과 협력을 통해 대전이 글로벌 첨단 로봇산업의 메카로 자리 잡도록 최선을 다할 것”이라고 밝혔다.

대전시는 이번 성과를 발판으로 4차 산업혁명 시대를 선도하는 스마트 도시 구현과 지역 경제 활성화에 기여하는 미래형 로봇산업 생태계 조성을 본격화하고 있다.
