충남 공주시가 농촌 주민의 삶의 질을 획기적으로 끌어올릴 생활 복합시설을 완공하고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다. 도심과의 격차를 줄이기 위한 농촌 혁신 사업이 지역 공동체를 중심으로 결실을 맺고 있다는 평가다.

공주시는 지난 3일 계룡면에서 ‘기초생활거점조성사업’의 일환으로 조성된 ‘어울림행복센터’의 준공식을 열고, 지역 주민을 위한 다목적 복합공간의 공식 운영을 시작했다고 4일 밝혔다. 

이날 행사에는 최원철 시장, 임달희 시의회의장, 주민 등 200여 명이 참석했으며, 계룡면 풍물단의 터울림 공연이 식전에 펼쳐져 잔잔한 흥을 더했다.

이번 사업은 공주시 농촌중심지 활성화 정책의 핵심으로, 교육·복지·문화·경제 기능을 한데 모은 복합 서비스를 통해 농촌 내 생활 기반을 통합적으로 확충하고, 인구 감소 지역의 공동체 회복을 도모하는 것이 목적이다.

총 40억 원이 투입된 이번 사업을 통해 시는 지상 1층, 연면적 397.5㎡ 규모의 어울림행복센터를 새롭게 건립했으며, 기존 노인회관도 전면 리모델링해 지역 주민의 생활 서비스 거점으로 탈바꿈시켰다. 이 센터는 앞으로 소규모 교육, 문화 프로그램, 복지 서비스 제공 공간으로 활용되며, 행정·지역행사·주민 소통의 중심지 역할도 수행하게 된다.
