풍산에프앤에스, 500억 원 투입 제2공장 착공

2029년 완공 목표…충남도 “방산 산업 핵심 거점 육성”

충남 논산이 ‘K-방산’의 글로벌 생산거점으로 한 걸음 더 나아간다. 

방위산업 전문 기업인 풍산에프앤에스가 논산에 제2공장 건립에 나서면서, 지역 경제와 고용 창출은 물론 대한민국 국방산업의 경쟁력 강화에도 탄력이 붙을 전망이다.

3일 논산시 광석면 천동리 일원에서 열린 풍산에프앤에스 제2공장 착공식에는 김태흠 충남지사를 비롯해 류상우 풍산에프앤에스 대표, 지역 주민 등 300여 명이 참석해 뜻깊은 자리를 함께했다.

이날 행사는 경과보고, 김 지사 축사, 테이프 커팅과 시삽 등으로 진행됐으며, 참석자들은 공장 착공이 갖는 의미와 지역사회에 미칠 긍정적 영향을 공유하는 시간을 가졌다.

풍산에프앤에스는 1973년 설립된 이래, 국내 방위산업의 중추적 역할을 해온 기업으로, 논산 은진면에 본사를 두고 있다.

이번 제2공장은 6만 9615㎡ 규모 부지에 약 500억 원을 투입해 2029년까지 완공할 계획이며, 완공 후에는 55명의 신규 일자리가 창출될 전망이다.

신규 공장에서는 로켓탄, 곡사포, 수중무기 등에 사용되는 신관을 비롯해 잠수함 탑재용 고정밀 가속도 센서, 원자력 발전소용 정밀부품 등 다양한 첨단 방산 부품을 생산할 예정이다.

김태흠 지사는 축사를 통해 “논산과 계룡은 3군 본부, 육군훈련소, 산학연 기관이 밀집한 대한민국 방산의 전략적 중심”이라며 “충남도는 국방국가산단 조성, 국방미래기술연구센터 설립, 국방특성화 대학 육성 등을 통해 이 지역을 ‘국방수도’로 성장시키겠다”고 밝혔다.

또한 “풍산에프앤에스가 앵커기업으로서 방산 산업 생태계의 구심점이 되길 바란다”며 “도 차원에서도 인허가 등 행정 절차를 신속히 지원하고, 관련 인프라 확충에 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.

특히 김 지사는 “방위산업은 국가 안보와 직결될 뿐 아니라 반도체 산업과 함께 국가 경제를 이끌어갈 차세대 성장동력”이라며 “이번 제2공장 착공이 K-방산의 세계화를 이끄는 새로운 출발점이 되길 기대한다”고 덧붙였다.
