충남 유일의 지상파 라디오 방송국인 TBN 충남교통방송이 오는 7월 8일 오전 10시 39분, 공식 개국과 함께 첫 전파를 쏜다. 주파수는 천안·아산 지역 103.1㎒, 그 외 지역은 103.9㎒다.

충남도는 2일 이 같은 개국 일정을 발표하며, 도 전역에 교통과 재난 정보를 실시간으로 제공하는 24시간 방송 체제가 본격 가동된다고 밝혔다.

충남교통방송은 지난 2023년 8월 개국 허가를 받은 뒤, 같은 해 11월 착공에 들어갔다. 개국까지는 1년 11개월이 소요됐으며, 사업 추진 초기에는 방송통신위원회의 허가 지연으로 한때 국비 반납 위기까지 겪었지만, 민선 8기 충남도의 행정력 집중으로 속도가 붙었다.

신청사는 내포신도시 한울마을사거리 도시첨단산업단지 내에 위치하며, 부지 7512㎡, 연면적 2994㎡ 규모의 지상 3층 건물로 건립됐다. 총 사업비 295억 6000만 원은 전액 국비로 투입됐다.

방송 송출은 서산 원효봉, 천안 흑성산, 보령 옥마산, 계룡산, 금산 등 5곳의 송·중계소를 통해 도내 전역에 전달된다.
